Many people go diving to see the splendor and variety of fish that are darting back and forth. But the inhabitants of the seabed are not always good-natured, and some of them also look like real monsters. Such fish are not afraid of people, so if you meet them, it is better to immediately retreat.

Sabretooth

Sea monsters don't have to be big. They may be small, but very angry and scary. It is to these that the sabertooth can be attributed. Some call this fish much more frightening - "man-eater". Her skin is covered with a thick layer of armor, and in her mouth are four sharp straight teeth, with which she shreds the victim if she inadvertently swims too deep. These sea monsters are small, averaging 15 to 20 cm in length. Their torso gradually expands from the tail to the head, which looks huge because of this. Long teeth only complement the overall picture, making the sabertooth even uglier. And although this species lives at a great depth, somewhere around 5,000 meters, they still manage to easily findtheir prey, and in some cases they can swim to a shallower depth in search of prey.

Dragonfish

Terrible black fish with small eyes and huge teeth, with which they can gnaw through even the thickest protection, are called dragons in the depths of the sea. The females of this species are long, up to 40 cm long, and very flexible. It is they who look intimidating, but male dragons cannot boast of this. They are only 5 cm long, males have no sharp teeth, and in general they bear little resemblance to predators. This species lives at a depth of about 2,000 meters.

An interesting fact: the eyes of dragon larvae hang on special stalks, and as the fish grows, they "fall into place", that is, reach the eye sockets.

Goliath fish

This type of tiger fish is considered the most dangerous. Most of all, it resembles a piranha, however, it differs from it in size - the goliath fish is huge. There are five tiger species in total, the largest of which lives in the Congo River. The fish living there reaches 50 kg of weight and 180 cm in length, where even experienced divers looking for adventure are unlikely to want to meet it. In addition, the mouth of an underwater inhabitant is "adorned" with teeth, sharp as razors. Goliath can eat an animal that accidentally fell into the water, and deal with a small crocodile. In addition, anglers who are eager to catch this predator need to be patient and steel leashes - the fish will easily gnaw through an ordinary strong net with their "razors".

Unusual marine life

Besides dangerous monsters that are just waiting for a new victim, quite good-natured fish are found in the oceans and rivers. They just look a little strange, and sometimes even repulsive. But because of this, the brightest representatives of unusual fish even gained some popularity.

Blobfish

Some call it the most disgusting fish in existence. It does not hide as deep as the previously described species, but it will still be quite difficult to see it - a drop prefers to live at a depth of 100 to 600 m. The body of the fish is slimy and large, it reaches 10 kg in weight and looks more like an incomprehensible jelly mass. In length, the average representative of this species is about 50-60 cm, the largest - 70 cm. At the same time, there are no scales on her body, as well as fins. Only the gelatinous structure allows the drop to move in the water, but since there are no muscles in the body of the fish, it can only go with the flow. So the underwater inhabitant feeds in a very strange way - he simply opens his mouth and waits for the careless inhabitants of the ocean to fall into it. Now this species is threatened with extinction, as lobster hunters very often catch it in their nets. The fish is inedible, but lives at about the same depth as the fishermen's coveted prey.

An interesting fact: the blob has become very popular due to the fact that its muzzle resembles a human face - it has big eyes and even a nose that most of all resembles a potato. In addition, she is called the saddest fish in the world, and all becausethere is a large distance between her eye sockets, which makes her seem to be constantly sad.

Mandarin duck

This small fish is considered "psychedelic" due to its coloration - blue, yellow, orange, blue and green hues make its body unusually bright. Such fish have become very popular because of their interesting colors, but, despite the fact that many people keep them in their aquariums, not everyone can keep a mandarin duck. This is because this species can only eat copepods, which are impossible to find on the shelves of pet stores - these are the smallest crustacean inhabitants of the ocean. So in captivity, tangerines often die because of hunger.

Witch Fish

This species is also called hagfish and is considered one of the most unusual. The witch fish has no jaws, and because of this, it eats only tiny fish, or it can climb into the body of a large dying one, after which it will scrape it from the inside. The reputation of these sea monsters is not the best. They are the first in the amount of mucus on the body. The fish could even die, because the mucus constantly clogs its airways. But she herself cleanses her body of the slimy substance, while curling up into a knot.

Fun fact: the witchfish is the only species that can sneeze. She does this to remove mucus from one nostril.

Who lives on the seafloor?

Anglerfish is the most dangerous and disgusting fish that exists on the seabed. It is dangerous for both experienced divers,so for other inhabitants of the sea that live in the depths. These scary fish seem to hide their ugliness from others, so they live at a depth of 1 to 1.5 km. Anglerfish spend most of their lives at the very bottom, where they burrow into the sand or silt in anticipation of a victim. In total, there are more than 200 species of these fish.

In addition, these sea monsters have a special "flashlight". It resembles a float and begins to glow at great depths. This serves as a kind of bait for careless fish.

Life of marine life

Despite the terrible and disgusting neighbors, the life of marine life is quite diverse. Many fish have learned to defend themselves or hide from sea monsters that try to get them. Some types of strange, frightening creatures are not predators. They do not prey on humans, as, for example, the anglerfish or the goliath. This is a blobfish and a witch, who do not pose a threat to humans, despite their appearance.
