Her life is not easy. Since childhood, she had to overcome many difficulties, and in her declining years, Yulia Ippolitovna was left alone, despite popular recognition and love.

Family

Yulia Solntseva, whose photo is in this article, was born on August 7, 1901 in Moscow. Her mother, Valentina Timokhina, worked as a senior cashier at the Muir and Merliz store, which is now called the Central Department Store. Yulia's father, Ippolit Peresvetov, did not live with his family. He rarely came, and even then such visits ended with a parental “showdown”. In 1905, a tragedy occurred in the life of Julia. First, right at work (at a sugar factory), her father died. Then there was no mother. Five-year-old Yulia and her brother were left in the care of their grandparents.

Childhood

Since in childhood, Yulia and her brother were practicallyleft to their own devices, they found their hobby - books. After the death of their parents, their grandfather after a short time received a transfer to St. Petersburg, where he took his wife and grandchildren. But there was not enough money, and Yulia began to work with her grandmother in order to somehow live. They sewed women's clothes, which they then sold. Yulia read a lot in her free time.

Education

The money earned by Yulia and grandmother for sewing went not only for food, but also for studying at the gymnasium. In it, the girl fell in love with the theater, playing in the performances of an amateur studio. Yulia Solntseva was so passionate about literature that this prompted her to enter the Faculty of Philosophy after graduating from the gymnasium at Moscow University. But soon she transferred to the Philharmonic (later renamed the Institute of Musical Drama). She graduated in 1922

First fee

Yulia played her first real role while still in high school. She was noticed by a film director and offered to play the role of a servant. True, he paid a fee, which was only enough for a loaf of bread. This was the first money that Yulia earned in the theater.

Creative path

After graduating from the Moscow Philharmonic, Yulia received an invitation (which she accepted) to the troupe of the Chamber Theater. She needed a pseudonym, and the girl chose the name of Solntseva. But she didn’t work on the stage, being in the cinema.

Direction

A new round in her fate and career occurred when she fell in love with director A. P. Dovzhenko, who later becameher husband. They started working together. At first, Yulia Ippolitovna was an assistant director. She worked at Mosfilm, VUFKU, at the Kyiv film studio. Then she became a co-director. She took part in the creation of the films "Michurin" and "Shchors" and a number of documentaries.

In the early fifties, Yulia Solntseva began to create her own films. One of her first works is the teleplay "Egor Bulychov and others." The main founder, inspirer and critic was Dovzhenko (at that time already her husband). Yulia Ippolitovna fully shared his worldview.

Private life

The first marriage of Yulia Solntseva was unsuccessful. Lydia Ginzburg, who later became a famous literary critic, described her husband as a gloomy person and far from art. He even tried to ban her from acting in films. Many fell in love with Julia, wrote poetry, courted. And why she chose a car specialist as her husband turned out to be a mystery to many.

She left the cinema for a couple of years. But the version that Yulia Ippolitovna Solntseva was in prison does not appear anywhere in the sources and is not officially confirmed. Most likely, it was at the insistence of her first husband that she temporarily stopped filming. But she reappeared on the screens in 1926. In one of the interviews, she admitted that she had fled from her husband to Odessa.

This year and the city became a turning point for her in her personal life. It was in Odessa that Yulia Ippolitovna met Dovzhenko. The girl noticed him while filming. Then Dovzhenko met her atfamiliar couple, where she drank tea. He invited me to take a walk and since then they began to meet more and more often. After the picture "Arsenal" was completed, they left for Kharkov. But as husband and wife. Yulia Ippolitovna did not change her surname.

But with great enthusiasm, she entered the role of her beloved wife. She took pleasure in their village house, summer cottage in Peredelkino and Moscow apartment, ennobling them and creating comfort. She said goodbye to her acting career forever after the film "Earth".

Strike of Fate

A strong blow of fate shook Yulia Ippolitovna to the core in 1956. That year her husband, Alexander Petrovich Dovzhenko, died. No signs of trouble. He worked in his own studio, located at home, preparing for new shoots. He was going to go to the city, but suddenly he became ill. When the shooting participants arrived, Alexander Petrovich was no longer alive.

Solntseva was shocked by his unexpected death. But the terrible grief could not break the woman. After the death of her beloved husband, she devoted thirty-three years to his memory - Julia decided to stage those films that he did not have time to realize during his lifetime. In addition, she published the collected works of Dovzhenko, which was published in the 70s. Yulia Solntseva died on October 28, 1989. In her last interview, she admitted that apart from Dovzhenko, she had no one else in the world. And she often cried in the morning from oppressive loneliness.

I. was a laureate of the Stalinaward of the second degree and the International Film Festival in Cannes, as well as the owner of the Honorary Diplomas of the All-Union Film Festival and the London International Film Festival.
