In 1907, during the time of the Russian Empire, there was the Imperial Russian Military Historical Society. In those years, Nicholas II himself managed the organization. Under his leadership, the society did extensive work in the field of military history. In a short 7 years, many mass graves were found, monuments were erected and much more was done. Support of the Ministry of Culture and Defense of the Russian Federation

The work of the RVIO and the Ministry of Culture and Defense of Russia are closely interconnected. With his support, the Russian Society of Military Historians periodically conducts mass reconstructions of the destruction of the Second World War. To date, the society has created about 20 children's camps with a military-historical direction. RVIO is engaged in the creation of monuments to the heroes of military operations. Among them are such as a monument to Zoya Kosmodemyanskaya, a monument to a front-line dog, a monument erected to the murdered Russian prisoners of war in Gagarin, a monument to the heroes of the First World War and many others.

Single textbook

President Vladimir Putin authorized the historical society to create a single textbook on the history of Russia for all schools in the country, or rather for secondary schools. The main idea of the new textbooks is to write a simple and understandable story without unnecessary doubtful facts and without distorting it. Several of the oldest historical and military societies will also join the RVIO.

It is worth noting that the Russian Historical Society is doing a great job. RIO contributes to the fact that all of Russia remembers its heroes from different eras and does not forget the martyrs of those difficult times for the country. It promotes military service among young people, which is one of the important factors in the army system. It is no wonder that the state allocates such huge sums for the work of the RVIO.
