The actor, who starred in 36 films, was born in the city of Kalinin on September 16, 1938. Despite his weighty track record, Valery's life did not include things that are ordinary for stars. There was no praise, respect, fame and recognition. True, up to a certain point. For a wide range of people, he became known thanks to one significant film.

"Shadows disappear at noon" (1971) - this is Valery Gataev's calling card. It was this film that, after being shown on TV, lifted him to the podium of fame. Then 4 more films followed in the life of the actor, but they no longer brought such a response from the audience.

The biography of Valery Gataev as an actor began in the drama theater of the city of Ulyanovsk. After that, he played in more than thirty performances in his hometown. Colleagues admired his acting game.

In 1971, Gataev received an invitation to the Leningrad Theater, which he accepted with pleasure. And after 6 years he moved to Moscow to work at the Moscow Art Theater. In thattheater he took a leading role, not a single premiere was complete without his participation.

1986 was a significant year for Valery Gataev - he was recognized as a People's Artist of the RSFSR. Then, 13 years later, he was awarded the Order of Friendship.

Since the 1960s, the actor began to participate in filming. But as many as 11 years passed before the film in which he starred flew around the country and collected admiring reviews. We are talking about the then sensational film “Shadows Disappear at Noon”, where Valery Gataev appeared before the audience in the role of Frol. In addition to this film, Gataev's career can also be distinguished:

  • "The Last Escape" (1980), where Valery played the godfather.
  • "Without a statute of limitations" (1986), Captain Dementiev.

Valery entered into his first marriage with a girl named Lyudmila. The couple has a son, who was named Artem. Valery was a faithful husband,even his friends remarked on this and joked without malice.

However, in 1980, Valery Gataev's personal life is undergoing major changes. The theater has a new employee. They called her Olga. Gataev could not restrain his feelings for her, even though their age difference was 24 years. Olga Dubovitskaya was also not embarrassed by age, it turned out that the love was mutual. Valery divorces his wife. Then he was invited to the Moscow Art Theater, and he and Olya went to Moscow. Two years passed, and Olga gave birth to Gataev's twins - Tanya and Masha. The family was given a three-room apartment in Sokolniki.

Death

On June 24, 2011 Valery Zakirovich Gataev passed away. They started talking about him again with their former strength many years after that great premiere. Due to heart failure, Valery could not reach his 73rd birthday for only two months.

Heart problems began 10 years before his death. The actor could no longer play, the affected vessels on his legs made themselves felt. Gataev was terribly worried about this. Fortunately, he found another occupation for himself in the theater - to share his experience with young and novice actors. The team, when they saw Gataev entering the walls of the theater, immediately changed, everyone was in a good mood. After his retirement, former colleagues supported the actor morally and helped him with finances.

Four days after Gataev's death, they buried him. In addition to relatives, colleagues and friends, at least a hundred admirers of his talent and acting gathered to say goodbye.
