The Belgorod State Art Museum is one of the youngest complexes on the territory of the Russian Federation, which contains works of art by outstanding painters of the past century and the present.
Creation and development
The history of the complex dates back to 1970, when a hall for exhibitions functioned here. Artists gathered for creative meetings and donated their works to the city.
The widow of the painter Dobronravov in 1980 enriched the complex with 200 paintings of her late husband, drawn with paints and in the form of graphics. Based on this collection, the Belgorod State Art Museum began to develop rapidly.
New works were added to it, and already in 1983 the first excursion was held here. The employees of the complex began to improve it, purchased new copies from outstanding authors and their children, contacted collectors and owners of art salons. The Ministry of Culture of the RSFSR participated in the development, stimulating the transferhere graphics, sculptural, applied and decorative works created by modern masters in the "Rosisopropaganda" - the Republican Art Center and in the association named after. Vuchetich.
The Belgorod State Art Museum was replenished with the works of local people and representatives of other regions of the state. Belgorod eventually became interesting to tourists, because the museum's collection has grown to an impressive size, has become a kind of reflection of the Soviet artistic style.
Description
The Belgorod State Art Museum, whose history testifies to constant development, has not slowed down and today continues to replenish with new works. New graphics, sculptures, icons, applied decorative works are constantly appearing in it. They are collected at exhibitions, competitions and festivals. Most authors are honored to sell or simply donate their work here for free.
In 1990, the collection of icon-painting works began here. The Belgorod State Art Museum keeps up with the times, so since 2011 there has been an exposition dedicated to photography. The administration tries to distribute the material in such a way that each category reflects a separate stage of development in the field of fine arts.
Exposures
There are two halls in which old works are regularly changed to new ones. The first is dedicated to the 20th century, the second - to the present. Constantly improving andthe Belgorod State Art Museum is enriched. Visitor reviews indicate that, having been here, people get acquainted with the color, moods and features of the era of the 20th century.
Since the prevailing style here is realism, characteristic of the time of the USSR, it becomes as accessible as possible. Pleasure brings admiration of sculpture and painting from stock collections. In 2013, there were changes in the composition of the expositions, the paintings were hung freely and the color of the hall design was changed.
I hall
In the collection 1910-1990 collected works written by famous masters of the plot-thematic picture: Kuprin, Osmerkin, Ivanov, Ossovsky, Stozharov, the Tkachev brothers, Komov, Klykov, Tomsky and others.
In addition, the Belgorod State Art Museum exhibited works by masters about whom little is known, whose paintings were not included in the exposition before, but are worthy of attention.
Expositions of the second half of the 20th century are divided into categories according to various topics: new history (pictures of the civil and Great Patriotic Wars), romantic features inherent in the "severe" style, contemporary and his image (themes of time, personal development, creative activity, cities), the life of the rural population, the abundance of different nationalities in the population of the state, industrial development, construction, labor activity.
Having been here, getting acquainted with the direction of realism of the 20th century, the features of the era of the USSR and its reality, people get acquainted with dreams,images and problems characteristic of this time.
II Hall
In the second exhibition space, the Belgorod Art Museum held a re-exposition, in accordance with the planned activities aimed at updating the stationary type area reserved for exhibitions. As a result, the public has more access to exhibits shown for the first time or exhibited infrequently. 6 sections appeared.
They are dedicated to painting, sculptural compositions, artists of Belgorod, graphic, folk arts and crafts of the 21st century. The sixth exposition, called "Art Parish", is intended for a children's audience. It opened in 2015.
Viewing the collections of the 21st century presented here along with the works of the last century, visitors get the opportunity to trace the dynamics and direction of changes in artistic processes. Between eras there is continuity and an undeniable connection, reflecting the search for the optimal style and manner of performing works.

People are fascinated by the works offered by many authors, genres and types. The graphic works presented here leave a strong impression. It is interesting to compare the techniques and materials with which the works were created. One of the most original sections is the exposition dedicated to arts and crafts.
Here are the works of Rostov enamel, lacquerminiature paintings, stucco and pottery from Belgorod, Skopin and Sudzha. All this invariably attracts the attention of the local population and guests of the city. Visitors to this hall get an idea of the traditional crafts of the region, consider clay toys of the Dymkovo, Stary Oskol and Filimonovo samples. They are considered unique symbols of the local culture.
