You can believe in these legends or, on the contrary, deny them, but the only thing that can be said with complete certainty is that even for those people who completely oppose and do not perceive fairy tales, such stories, carried through the centuries, still seem mysterious and attractive. Sometimes fictional legends convey the color of the area so subtly that it is almost impossible not to believe in their veracity. About the Kurdzhips River, stretching from the Kuban to Adygea and flowing past the Guam Gorge, there is also a popular rumor. Location

The Kurdzhips River is rather small by the standards of recognized world leaders, such as the Nile or the Amur. Its length does not exceed 100 km. She takes her start in the Apsheron regionKrasnodar Territory and belongs to the Kuban Basin District. Its mouth is located 114 km along the left bank of the Belaya River on the Lagonak Uplands of the Abadzesh Ridge not far from Maykop.

Practically the entire Kurdzhips flows through canyons, which are covered with dense forests. It is noteworthy that deciduous trees predominate in the lower reaches, and fir trees dominate in the upper reaches. For about 5 km, the river flows in the Guamsky Gorge of the Krasnodar Territory, which is formed by two mountain ranges: Lagonaksky and Guama. Their height is about 400 meters. By the way, at the top of the sheer cliffs there is a huge amount of living creatures. There are bears, wild boars and deer here. It is also worth mentioning that Kurdzhips receives more than 80 tributaries.

It is an abbreviated combination of two Georgian words: "kurjy", which means "Georgian", and "dogs", which is translated from Georgian as "water". The course of the river, due to its location, for the most part in mountainous areas, where plains alternate with highlands, is swift. The width in the places of its flow in the canyons is about 4 meters, and in some areas it barely reaches 2 meters. She fell in love with the handsome Eagle and their feelings were mutual. But Grom was also in love with Guamka, and once he simply hit the Eagle with a thunderbolt right in the heart. A powerful blow of the elements split the mountain in two, forming a deep canyon, in which mountain streams began to flow. If you follow the flow, then the river will lead tothe village of Mezmay, where a huge stone heart rises directly from the waters of Kurdzhips. It is it, according to the inhabitants of Adygea, that belongs to Orel. And next to this heart flows the purest stream, which is considered the tears of Guamka's grief for her beloved.
