For most people on earth who want to temporarily move away from the harsh truth of life, reading science fiction novels is a real outlet. In them, they can visit different planets, travel through time, teleport from one place to another, and also empathize with the heroes and save the world from another apocalypse together with them. Similar stories, endowed with special meaning, can also be found in the works of such a science fiction writer as Yevgeny Shchepetnov.
Short biography of the writer: childhood and school years
Evgeny Vladimirovich is one of the most popular science fiction writers in Russia, creating fantasy novels. This talented author was born in the Orenburg region in a family of geologists in 1961. From childhood, the young talent liked to fantasize and invent various mythical characters. He often played with other children, drawing them into his own fairy-tale world, where wizards and monks, kings and queens ruled, dragons flew, and brave knights fought for the hand of the lady of the heart.
At school, Schepetnov Evgeny Vladimirovich was no different. His classmates spoke ofhim as a well-mannered, sociable and moderately mischievous boy. He read a lot and preferred rather the humanities, leaving mathematics, physics, geometry and chemistry in the background. Despite this, the young writer was always open to comprehending everything new and interesting.
Moving and studying at universities
When Yevgeny was 14 years old, his parents decided to move to the city of Saratov. First, the future writer decided to follow in the footsteps of his parents and become a geologist. It was for this purpose that he passed the exams and entered the Saratov Geological Exploration College.
Graduated from it Shchepetnov Yevgeny Vladimirovich at the beginning of 1980. From that moment on, the science fiction writer became interested in travel. He continued to read and improve his original level of erudition. However, he still lacked something, and what exactly, he would understand a little later.
Practice, work and changing interests
The author's craving for adventure manifested itself during his practice and work in the Tien Shan in Kyrgyzstan, where he arrived by assignment. It was there that he felt the complexity and at the same time the “charm” of working as a geologist. There, for the first time, the writer managed to feel like a real treasure hunter, since his actions were directly related to the search for gold deposits.
Evgeny Schepetnov returned to his beloved Saratov only a year later. There, a new vacancy awaited him, opening up great prospects in the oil refining industry.
Taking advantage of a tempting and profitable offer, the science fiction writer remained in the oil field, where he worked until the middle1987. At the end of the same year, the second unexpected proposal awaited the writer. On the horizon loomed not too significant, but still, the position of a police officer. It also opened the way for an inquisitive writer into an unknown and mysterious world, which could only be seen through the eyes of a representative of the law. There he managed to work until the end of 1992.
Further education and career
Because Yevgeny Schepetnov was a well-rounded personality, he always took education seriously. After graduating from a technical school and completing an internship, the science fiction writer decided to get a higher education and entered Saratov State University, where he studied as an engineer and oil geologist until 1992.
Having received a diploma of a specialist, the author went into business and tried to expand as much as possible as a private entrepreneur. However, even at that moment, Eugene felt a certain emptiness that he had absolutely nothing to fill with.
Schepetnov's creative path
Feeling a certain vacuum in his own achievements, Evgeny Schepetnov started writing fantastic stories. He began his first steps in creativity in 2011. And - about a miracle! This is exactly what was lacking in the life of the writer. In his own words, writing fantasy novels has become his best hobby.
Exactly one year later, he already managed to publish several chapters of one of his first books on the Samizdat website. And away we go. Ideas for writing novels rained down like a cornucopia.
At the moment, the writer has already written and published over 30 books, as well asthere are ready-made sketches of new ones, waiting in the wings. From that moment, Yevgeny Shchepetnov gained his fame. All his books fascinate with their realism, intricate plot and unpredictable ending. Although no one could even imagine that the sketches of a novice writer would attract the attention of such a large number of science fiction fans. About what kind of works the science fiction writer wrote, we will tell further.

Wandering Shadows and saving the world
One of the most read works of the author today is the book "Wandering Shadows" - a fascinating story about a simple guy Petya Mikhailov, who is destined to finally reveal the secret of the disappeared settlement of Arkaim.
At one fine moment, the main character becomes a victim of an accident, as a result of which he acquiresunusual supernatural powers. As a result, an ordinary young man who has graduated from the physical and mathematics department has access to information that ordinary people cannot get. From this moment, Petya begins to get used to new abilities and opportunities, which he, without hesitation, uses far from righteous goals …
Here is a fantasy novel in 2012 written by Yevgeny Vladimirovich Shchepetnov. All books by this writer contain similar characters that do not at all resemble "white and fluffy" heroes. All of them are endowed with real character traits, given their shortcomings and weaknesses.
"Road to Tao" from the cycle "Yin-Yang"
Another striking work is "The Road to Tao". This is an unusual fantasy thriller from the Yin-Yang series, which tells about the adventures of the main character Sergei Sazhin in an amazing magical world. This time, a policeman appears in the guise of a hero, by chance placed in a female body. It is he who is the key to unraveling the mystery of the mysterious salvation of the real world, for which he will fight with an experienced and sinister sorcerer.
In this 2015 release, you will find exciting chases, transformations, unexpected plot twists and a lot of magic. All this was described in his novel by Yevgeny Shchepetnov. "The Road to Tao" is the second part of a series of sensational novels with a mixture of detective and fantasy.
"Monk" and his parallel worlds
"The Monk" is the third bright novel of the writer, released in 2014 and part of a series of five novels. This is the very first part of the adventure cycle, which tells about the journey of the main character to a parallel world. Unusual demonic creatures, dragons, goblin, kikimoras and other fairy-tale characters endowed with strong and negative magic await him here.
It is interesting that Yevgeny Schepetnov wrote "The Monk" in the vein of a kind of anti-hero. His character is far from an angel, but a former assassin and at the same time a monk. Accordingly, in addition to battles with fantastic entities, his Andrey is forced to constantly wage his own internal struggle, succumbing or not agreeing to another temptation. And then the hero will have to save his friends and find answers to his questions.
Historical and fantasy novel "Doctor"
"Healer" is a book included in the so-called "Istra cycle", consisting of four novels (including this one): "The Magician", "The Warlord" and "The Gray Lord". And again it raises the issue of parallel worlds.
This time the main character finds himself in a world equivalent to the time before our era, when carnivorous dinosaurs walked the earth. However, unlike the real one, there is magic in it, as well as palace intrigues are intertwined, there is a slave system and much more interesting things. As you can see, this is a real cocktail of genres and eras, in which a very subtle historical parallel can be traced. And it was he who was created in 2013 by Evgeny Shchepetnov. "Doctor" is a chaoticillustration of the past with a combination of exciting present.
Space fiction - “Corporation. Plague Planet"
“Corporation. Plague Planet is a book created in 2015 and related to the space fantasy cycle. It tells about the adventures of Sly Dongar, who is a man from the future and at the same time a bored sales manager. His monotonous daily work is annoying, and in his free time he dreams of flying. Suddenly, the life of the hero changes dramatically. It's all because of his unexpected inheritance in the form of a mysterious space truck…
In this work, the protagonist is waiting for difficult troubles, a lot of adventures, chases and even a shootout. So-so action in a fabulously fantastic package.
Demonologist Mage and Labyrinths of Forgotten Roads
"Labyrinths" is a fantastic work about the foundling Ned the Black, who received tremendous experience as a magician and at the same time a demonologist. Based on the plot, he has to save his wife, who was previously poisoned by ill-wishers. He goes in search of a cure in order to awaken his wife from eternal sleep. Along the way, Ned encounters a lot of obstacles and competitions, from which he will have to emerge with his head held high.
What is the difference between Shchepetnov's heroes and others?
Unlike the heroes of a similar genre, Evgeny's characters are not so positive. They lead a promiscuous life, often abuse alcohol, and are sometimes unclean.on hand and are overly fond of carnal pleasures. The author has no righteous people, and even the monks are former killers and prisoners.
In a word, despite the theme of fantasy, his heroes are people from real time with their shortcomings, sins and weaknesses. In addition, in the books of the writer "a lot of violence, blood and corpses." That is why almost all of the writer's novels are marked "18+".
According to the author himself, his task was to show real people who found themselves in non-standard conditions for them. But whether to read these works or not, let each of you decide for yourself.
