In the city of Grozny in 1952, the future queen of the gymnastic platform was born. From an early age, the girl gravitated towards the art of dance: she walked on tiptoes, elegantly gesticulating with her hands. Therefore, my mother sent Lyudmila to a ballet school, but learning the art of classical dance did not last long, and at the age of 10 the girl began to do gymnastics. The first coach to leadTurishchev in the gym was Kim Wasserman. He was then engaged in the search for young talents among pupils of secondary schools. Thirty boys and the same number of girls aged 8-9 became the students of coach Kim Efimovich, and Lyudmila Turishcheva was among the recruits.

Wasserman raised the future Olympic champion for two years, but then switched to working with a group of boys and handed over the girls' team together with Lyuda to coach Vladislav Rastorotsky.

Preparing for the Olympiads

The mode of an eight-year-old girl since 1964 has been dramatically changed by the coach in order to get to the Olympics in Mexico City, which was to be held in 1968. He was a strict teacher, but Turishcheva said that his exactingness helped a lot in achieving results. Lyudmila was considered a purposeful pupil and came to play sports even when there were no trainings according to the plan.

FirstOlympics

On the eve of the Olympics in Moscow, sports days were held to adapt athletes. In 1967, Lyudmila Turishcheva first appeared on the adult platform for such summer competitions. Family, coach, friends supported the young athlete and wished her victory, but Natalya Kuchinskaya, at that time a more prepared gymnast, became the first in the all-around and in four apparatus.

In Mexico City, Lyudmila went to the Olympics as a gymnast, still unknown to the public. The attention of the guests, the jury and the paparazzi was riveted to the "bride of Mexico City", the same Natalia Kuchinskaya. However, Lyudmila Turishcheva never aspired to work for the public, she directed her concentration on the performance technique.

The first Olympics, the excitement and… falling off the balance beam. In the all-around, she got only 24th place, but the Soviet team of gymnasts nevertheless stood on the podium and received gold medals. This would hurt every athlete, and for a person with the goal of winning the championship title, this state of affairs was an incredible incentive for further preparation.

Absolute champion

After Mexico City, the team of gymnasts led by Rastorotsky became heroes in their homeland in Grozny. Athletes were met by officials with music and flowers. Two years after her first Olympics, the girl went to the World Championships in Ljubljana. Here Lyudmila gave all her best and, having beaten her main competitors - Korbut, Yants, Burda, took first place. The title of the absolute world champion brought her a victory in Ljubljana. Lyudmila and Vladislav Stepanovich were not deprived of the attention of the leadership of the republic and the sports community in Grozny, but the championship tandem moved to Rostov-on-Don after the Olympics in Mexico City, since the conditions for living and training there were better. Until 1972, Turishcheva represented the city of Grozny and the Dynamo sports society in it.

In Rostov-on-Don, the girl entered the Pedagogical University and in 1986, having defended her dissertation, became a candidate of pedagogical sciences. Turishcheva Lyudmila Ivanovna was an excellent student in everything: at school, university, in training, competitions, despite the fact that time was running out. The girl went to competitions with textbooks, and in between workouts she ran to take laboratory tests.

Munich Olympics

There were three leaders in the Soviet Union gymnastics team in 1972: Korbut, Turishcheva, Lazakovich. The main competitors were girls from the GDR team led by Karin Janz. The audience expected to see a sharp fight, because in Ljubljana gymnasts from the USSR and the GDR, according to the jury, went with a difference of ten points.

Soviet athletes in Munich immediately took the lead in the team tournament, and during the free program they surpassed the GDR team by a few more points. As a result, German athletes turned out to be weaker than the USSR team,who climbed to the podium. Burda and Turishcheva then became two-time champions. But ahead of everyone was the final and the fight for the title of absolute champion in certain types of all-around. Olga, leaving the gymnastic platform, wanted to please the public. Her performance was artistic and mischievous. She was in contact with the viewer, smiling, experiencing emotions, and thus expended a lot of energy.

Then Lyudmila Ivanovna agreed with the athletics coach so that her daughter could come to the stadium to run. By the age of 11, Tatyana had completed the running standard for a candidate master of sports. She performed in sprint races at competitions, but by the age of twenty she again realized that this was not for her. Tatyana decided to be creative and entered the University of Design, where she received the speci alty of a fashion designer.
