Rampant elements: flood in Kavalerovo

In August 2016, a typhoon raged in Primorye, which caused damage to many families, flooding their houses and household plots. Roads were destroyed, automobile bridges were washed away, as a result of which some villages were completely cut off from the world.

Events in Kavalerovo due to the flood

The Kavalerovsky district suffered greatly from the elements, where the sharply rising water in the river flooded the nearest areas. Due to damage to power lines, some areas were left without electricity. The quality of drinking water also left much to be desired - overflowing reservoirs could not cope with their task and the water from the taps of local residents flowed dirty.

On the third day of the typhoon, more than 50 houses and more than 60 household plots were flooded, including high-rise buildings! In Kavalerovo, the flood completely destroyed three houses that could not even be restored! The destruction was simply catastrophic, which is why the Kavalerovsky district was recognized as the most affected by Typhoon Lionrock.

Rescuers worked hard, boats evacuated local residents from flooded roofshouses and cars, placing them with relatives and in points of temporary stay; liquidated the consequences of the rampant elements; repaired washed-out roads and bridges.

In many districts of Primorsky Krai, including in Kavalerovo, the flood and its consequences prevented such an important holiday for every student - September 1st. It had to be rescheduled due to problems with roads, communications and electricity.

Temporary Accommodations

In the village of Vysokogorsk, Kavalerovsky district, a temporary accommodation center was organized right in a comprehensive school, and in the suburbs of Kavalerovo, residents were accommodated in a local recreation center. In some places, the high water level on the street literally blocked people in their homes, flooding not only the basements, but also the first floors. Residents simply had to leave their homes.

Temporary accommodation centers had everything you needed: food, medicine, essentials. Also, people could seek psychological help at any time, some of them really needed it. Many residents refused accommodation in temporary centers and settled with relatives and friends.

The consequences of the typhoon in other districts of Primorye

But not only in Kavalerovo the flood caused great losses, other areas also suffered greatly from it. So, for example, in the Lazovsky district, road communication was disrupted, there was no access to the Internet. Five houses were flooded and the road was washed out in several places.

In the Terney region, flooding of cars, baths, sheds, residential buildings with all the property of citizens was also registered. A dirt road in the area was also damaged.

In the Ussuriysk and Dalnegorsk urban districts, as in Kavalerovo, the flood did not go unnoticed. Basements and adjacent territories were flooded, because of which the rescuers had to pump water into tanks and clean storm drains.

The strongest flood in Kavalerovo (August 2016) will be remembered by the locals for a long time. More than 700 rescuers of the Ministry of Emergency Situations in all the affected areas of Primorye worked for several days in the "High Readiness" mode. In total, about 12 thousand people and 2.5 thousand pieces of equipment were involved in the liquidation of the consequences of the flood. In total, more than 1200 houses and more than 300 adjacent territories were flooded.
