Wonderful Lake

In fact, this is an artificial reservoir created by a dam on a tributary of the Sukko River. It is located two kilometers from the village of the same name. This place is known for the fact that swamp cypresses grow here, whose homeland is North America. It is thanks to the giant trees that the pond was named Cypress Lake. Anapa - a popular resort on the Black Sea coast, is also famous for this lake. Hundreds of tourists come here to admire the wonderful scenery, relax on the shore of the reservoir and see strange trees with their own eyes.

In spring and summer, the pond is full-flowing, so the cypress trees are in the water and it’s difficult to get close to them, but in autumn the water subsides, the roots are exposed, and you can walk along the amazinga grove like no other in Russia.

History of Creation

Many people want to know how Cypress Lake appeared. The story goes that mighty conifers were brought from the North American continent and planted for experimental purposes in the distant 30s of the XX century. 32 trees took root, and now in the picturesque Sukko Valley in the Kravchenko Gap in the delta of a small river grows the only bog cypress grove in Russia. It occupies 1.5 hectares and is listed in the Red Book as a unique object.

On the territory of the castle there is a museum of the medieval Inquisition, a forge, a pottery workshop, a shooting gallery "Robin Hood".

This is an ethnographic complex, the interior of which is designed in African style: ritual masks carved from wood and painted with special paint, ethnic music, national songs and "wild dances". Professional artists performing in the show are known far beyond the borders of Anapa, as they perform at the resort only in summer, and in the off-season and in winter they tour throughout Russia and abroad.

The performance is built in a very peculiar way: at first, the audience sits at wooden tables, enjoys drinks and follows what is happening on the stage. Cypress Lake (Sukko): how to get there

Wonderful nature, a picturesque pond surrounded by a strange cypress grove, interesting entertainment in the area - all this attracts crowds of tourists. Finding your way to the lake is easy. It can be reached by private car or taxi (public transport does not run here) from Gelendzhik at the entrance to the village of Arkhipo-Osipovka.

The road from Anapa to the village of Sukko takes 40 minutes, you need to get off at the stop "Lukomorye", then again on your own to the lake. There are signs everywhere, so it's impossible to get lost. If you wish, you can take a horse ride to Kiparisovoyelake, since there is a base nearby that provides such services.
