Ekaterinburg's energy system, which has not been upgraded for more than thirty years, has received a new station. CHP "Akademicheskaya" is designed not only to solve the problem of energy shortage in a certain microdistrict of the city, but also to develop further infrastructure of the city and the region.
Modernization plan
In 2002, the Government of the Russian Federation adopted a program for the modernization of the electric power industry, the implementation of which is planned until 2020. Main goals:
- Increasing the efficiency of operating stations.
- Reduce fuel consumption at each station by 10%, which should be 300 grams per 1 kWh.
- Reduction of losses in the national network to 4%.
- Reducing losses in the national distribution complex to 6.5%.
- Decommissioning obsolete stations.
- Construction of new stations, optimization of placement.
According to the program currently being implemented, the liquidated capacities (26.4 GW) will be replaced by new energy efficient stations. It is planned to commission about 150 units of new main substations and about 9 thousand distribution substations, andmore than 300,000 kilometers of power lines will also be laid. The total cost of all work is estimated at 4.6 trillion rubles. One of the largest projects in the general plan of reconstruction and construction activities was the Akademicheskaya CHPP in Yekaterinburg.
Where they built
The Akademicheskaya CHPP was built with investment funds from PJSC T-Plus in the new Akademichesky microdistrict of Yekaterinburg. It occupies an area of about 1,300 hectares, where residential buildings with a total area of funds of 9 million square meters will rise, social and economic infrastructure facilities will amount to about 4 million square meters. This urban development project is by far the largest in Russia.
In addition to residential areas in the town and all related infrastructure in the form of schools, kindergartens, shopping malls, buildings of the Medical Academy will be built here. It is planned that the entire microdistrict will form a single cluster.
One of the schools is already open and accepted children in 2016, the regional budget spent about 600 million rubles on its construction. The educational institution has at its disposal a swimming pool, a theater hall, a well-equipped library, a lecture hall and an atrium.
Grand opening
The opening of the Akademicheskaya heating plant was a landmark event not only for Yekaterinburg and the entire region, but for the entire industry as a whole. The construction project of the microdistrict and the opening of a new efficient heating plant in it has become a newway of forming the living space of the city. The launch of the station gathered guests of honor, among whom were A. Inyutsin (deputy minister of energy), E. Kuyvashev (governor of the Sverdlovsk region), A. Yakob (head of administration of Yekaterinburg) and others.
The construction of the Akademicheskaya CHPP and its successful commissioning demonstrate the resurgent potential of the country. For some time, new nationwide projects were not implemented in Russia, science-intensive technologies were poorly introduced, there were no opportunities and programs for effective modernization and replacement of obsolete equipment. The implementation of the first large-scale program of the Government allows us to hope for a successful solution of many urgent problems in various sectors of the economy.
Investment in development
Investments in the Akademicheskaya CHP project amounted to about 12 billion rubles. The constructed power unit, according to the governor of the Sverdlovsk region E. Kuyvashev, will ensure the energy security of the entire region and serve as the final stage of the master plan for the development of Yekaterinburg.
The station also provides more than 160 jobs for highly qualified personnel. Industrial enterprises have the opportunity to increase output and reduce their cost by consuming cheap energy.
Station description
The Akademicheskaya CHPP is the final stage in the implementation of the investment energy project of the T Plus Group. Constructionstation began in 2014, in the summer of 2016, commissioning activities and a check of the readiness of the facility by Rostekhnadzor have already begun. The first energy deliveries took place on August 1 of the same year. The general contractor for the construction was Uralenergostroy Management Company LLC.
The grand opening of the Akademicheskaya CHPP took place on September 13, 2016. The station has become part of the program to upgrade the entire energy system of the country. The modernization plan was accepted for execution more than ten years ago and provides for the introduction of almost 30 gigawatts of new capacity. An innovation in the program was the project financing system - a mechanism was developed to attract private capital.
The basis of the Akademicheskaya CHPP is a combined-cycle plant with a thermal power of 403 Gcal/h, and an electric power of 220 MW. Almost all the equipment of the heating plant was produced at Russian enterprises, with the exception of the Alstom gas turbine plant. The operation of the CHP provides more than 200 tons of multi-storey buildings, more than 300 tons of kindergartens for preschoolers and 210 schools.
Features of the new station
Before the Akademicheskaya CHPP was launched, builders and engineers had to make several innovations that were not seen at other facilities:
- The cooling tower has been replaced with a compact ventilation system, reducing steam emissions into the atmosphere.
- Electric-gas switchgear occupies a site only 36 meters wide, previously the area for a similarthe device covered about 150 meters.
- The degree of water purification has been increased tenfold thanks to new equipment. So far, such an opportunity exists only at the Akademicheskaya CHPP.
- All technological processes are fully automated. Experts say that more than 800 kilometers of cable were installed to ensure the work.
- The station provides the end user with heat at the lowest cost in the region.
- Industrial enterprises of the city and the region got the opportunity to use additional capacity, and hence the development thanks to the work of the station of the Akademicheskaya CHP (Yekaterinburg).
Address
The opening of the new heating plant was marked by several events. Thus, the management of the investment company "T Plus" presented the governor of the region E. Kuyvashev with a "diamond" - a symbolic reflection of the value and significance of the station for builders and citizens. The heating plant absorbed all the best and most advanced, became the final stage of the company's investment program and gave birth to the largest microdistrict in Yekaterinburg.
"Akademicheskaya" TPP address is as follows: Prospekt Kosmonavtov, building 21. The nearest metro stations: "Mashinostroiteley", "Uralskaya".
