On the modern arms market, there are many rifle units manufactured by Colt chambered for 44 Magnum. However, the very first model using this ammunition was the Anaconda Colt. Information about the history of its creation, device and technical characteristics can be found in the article.
Introduction
The Anaconda Colt is a large caliber revolver produced from 1990 to 1999. arms firm Colt's Manufacturing Company. It was assumed that this rifle unit would be used as a service weapon. However, according to experts, the appearance of the Anaconda Colt on the arms market turned out to be belated. For over thirty years, Smith & Wesson and Ruger Redhawk revolvers have been widely used by consumers. These models of the Colt Anaconda revolver were very competitive.
History of Creation
Serial production of the Colt "Anaconda" was launched in 1990. Until that time, blued high-carbon steel was used for the production of revolvers. The developers of Colt's Manufacturing Company decided to use exclusively stainless steel. According to gunsmiths, the design of the Colt Anaconda was started with the aim of replacing the Smith & Wesson and Ruger Redhawk. However, after testing, it turned out that the first models of revolvers had poor accuracy of battle, which should have been improved. As a result, the Colt's Manufacturing rifle product became one of the more accurate ones using the 44 Magnum ammunition. Colt "Anaconda" because of the large size is not suitable for concealed wear. Despite the fact that since October 1999 this model has been no longer mass-produced, individual orders were received for its production until 2001.
Description
The design and finish of the Anaconda Colt (a photo of this rifle model is presented in the article) is similar to the Colt King Cobra, and the barrel, which has ventilated ribs, is similar to the Colt Python.
The revolver is equipped with a barrel of 4, 6 and 8 inches. Neoprene was used as a material for the manufacture of the corrugated handle. The weapon was equipped with a large trigger and a double-action trigger mechanism. This is a revolver with sights of an open type: an adjustable white whole and a front sight, in which there is a special red insert. For some models, it was possible to mount optical sights.
Since there is a strong recoil during the operation of the weapon, some revolvers were equipped with a muzzle brake. Judging by the reviews of the owners, rifle units with this device compare favorably with the quality of the USM. In order to maximizeto minimize recoil, and therefore reduce the load and ensure comfortable shooting, the designers created the Anaconda with a heavy and durable structure.
How does a revolver work?
The location of the striker was the frame, not the trigger. The model has an automatic fuse, thanks to which contact between the drummer and the hammer is possible after the trigger is fully pressed. The kinetic energy from the trigger to the striker is transmitted through a safety transfer rod, which is used as an automatic fuse. If the trigger is in the forward position, then the bar is in the lower position. After cocking the trigger, it rises, resulting in the transfer of energy.
