Khovanskoye cemetery has been part of the funeral home of the State Unitary Enterprise "Ritual" since its very foundation, since 1972. The name is due to the village located nearby, Nikolo-Khovansky. The territory of the burial is divided into three large parts, 88, 60 and 50 hectares in size, the names of the parts are respectively Central, Northern and Western. In general, the cemetery is divided into plots for burials, there are more than 500 of them. Within the territory there is a Church named after the Holy Prophet Forerunner and Baptist John, in addition, there are two chapels, the first was built in honor of the icon of the Vladimir Mother of God, and the second is named after Marina Reverend.

At the moment, the cemetery is a well-maintained modern burial place. There is also a crematorium, which burns the dead daily, for urns with the ashes of the dead there is a specially designated place for this - a columbarium. The Khovanskoye cemetery provides cremation services not only for Moscow and the Moscow region, but also for other districts of the Russian Federation. Since 1997, a territory has been set aside for Muslim burials, and at the same time a place for performing rituals (washing basin) according to the Muslim religion. Many famous people are buried in the cemetery, who left their bright mark on the history of the Fatherland, these are the heroes of the Second World War, directors, actors, journalists, poets, writers, athletes, composers, musicians, and, of course, politicians. Some graves have been turned into memorials and are open to tourists. There are also graves of members of the notorious Moscow criminal group Orekhovskaya. It is also noteworthy that all their monuments seem to be turned away from the main alley, which is located on a new site. The close location of the burial site is especially convenient, which makes it possible to get there by public transport and the metro.

Khovanskoye cemetery is open to the public from 9.00 to 19.00 in summer, and from 9.00 to 17.00 in winter. All plots are landscaped, have a freeapproach, burials are made every day. It is possible to create a family (tribal) crypt. Since the foundation of the cemetery, the administration has been located on the left side of the main entrance, there is an archive of registration of all burials since 1972. The inventory rental point has everything you need to care for the graves. For the convenience of visitors, a scheme has been introduced, the Khovansky cemetery is divided on it not only into main parts, but also into smaller sectors, all roads and paths are indicated. The territory is fenced, which reduces the risk of looting and vandalism.
