Vladimir Myshkin, as if justifying his surname, even in a prominent goalkeeper's place, which according to the conventional wording is equal to half a team, managed to be unobtrusive. It is very reliable, though ineffectively played this goalkeeper. In addition, it is not easy to live in an era of genius: that is why, despite personal achievements, Myshkin entered the history of Russian hockey as the best understudy of Vladislav Tretyak.
From M altsev's "transfer"
Vyatka is the land that gave Russian hockey the genius of striker Alexander M altsev. M altsev himself, without expecting it, created the conditions for another Vyatka hockey player to grow from his native Kirovo-Chepetsk to the level of a national star. It is unlikely that at the moment when one children's yard team missed the puck from the center of the site, he thought about it. Alexander was more worried, it seems, about the fate of his younger brother Sergei, who shamefully missed this very puck. M altsev Sr. drove the younger one out of the gate: "There's nothing for you to do in them. It's not yours. Play in the field."Vova Myshkin entered the vacated gate for the first time and "got it"…
The first Olympia
Young talent was sheltered by the flagship of the Vyatka hockey - Kirov-Chepetsk "Olympia". Vladimir quickly got stronger, gained self-confidence. And even developed his own style. The modest dimensions did not allow, as, for example, Tretiak, if anything, then simply close the gate with the body. Playing with your hands and jumping is risky, you had to choose the right position, “read the game” so that the puck finds you by itself. And this means that you need the ability to quickly assess the situation and make the right decision. In turn, this requires a cool head and calmness. The Vyatka peasants, who have had a reputation for being eccentric since ancient times, have always had slowness and thoroughness in honor. Therefore, it seems to be an offensive saying that ridicules the Vyatka "values", and the local dialect - "We are Vyatsky - Khvatsky: we are not afraid of one by all" - rather, a compliment. Seven against one? This is not cowardice. Of course, there is no intrigue, but where is it even more reliable? Myshkin's discreet playing style seems to come from here.
Was it? Wasn't there?
There is a legend about Myshkin's first match for Olympia Kirov-Chepetsk. The goalkeeper-debutant replaced the main goalkeeper of the team during the game, and the voice of the referee-informer was heard over the ice:
- The goalkeeper has been replaced in the Olimpia team. Instead of Nikolai Sobachkin, Vladimir is playing … Myshkin.
So, under the long laughter of the fans, the blond strong man made his debut in big hockey.
Moscow doesn't believe in kids
Reliable game attracted the attention of the youth team of the USSR. The first international titles came in it, and therefore I went to Moscow, to Krylya Sovetov, together with my Olympia coach Vladimir Eflov, full of hope.
However, the place of the first at the gate was tightly occupied by the goalkeeper of the national team Alexander Sidelnikov. I had to endure and wait for a chance. Vyatka patience, by Central Russian standards, is, of course, practically eternal, but there is a limit to it. I had to go to the first league, to the Saratov "Crystal", in order to prove my right to play in the elite league again.
And Myshkin returned back with the same Vyatka reliability. True, in the already decaying “Wings”, where, in fact, he became perhaps the most notable player. Why was the invitation to the national team. Then there was a transition to a more status Dynamo Moscow, for which he played the largest number of matches and was remembered in history as a Dynamo player.
Shadow Tretiak
Unfortunately, the years of Myshkin's career almost coincided with the era of Tretiak. "The best goalkeeper in the world among the substitutes" Myshkin did not complex about this at all. Much later, he was asked about the goalkeeper's jealousy of the gate. How was it with Tretiak? "It wasn't there. Maybe if we played in the same club, everything would be different. The national team has different tasks, different responsibilities."
With your current task to go on the ice whenfor some reason, the genius of Tretyak for some reason f altered, Myshkin coped with success. However, there were always occasions to shine.
Match of life and "anti-miracle on ice"
The best game of Vladimir Myshkin - the goalkeeper of the USSR national team - is considered to be the third match of the Challenge Cup in 1979. The game was decisive after the mutual victories of the national teams of the USSR and Canada. However, no matter how hard the Canadians tried, they lost it not just big, but also dryly - 0:6. Deserving the folk saying "Myshkin is a cat with a puck" was phenomenally impenetrable.
But the worst match happened a year later. Not so much in quality, but in terms of the result and its consequences. In the finals of the 1980 Olympic Games in Lake Placid, the USSR team lost, in fact, to the American student team. After the first two periods, the score was 2:2, but the actions of Vladislav Tretyak displeased the coach Viktor Tikhonov, and Myshkin entered the third period. At first everything went well: the score became 3:2, but the Americans snatched the victory 3:4.
About this "Miracle on Ice" two films with the same name were shot in the USA. In the second film, attention is not focused on the goalkeeper of the USSR national team, but in the first film, the American actor-extras even looks like Vladimir Myshkin.
In service
Vladimir Semyonovich finished his career in Finland. After a period of time, he began to work with goalkeepers of different clubs. The pinnacle of this activity was the work with the Russian national team, but he did not work well with the coaching pair of Bykov-Zakharkin.
Myshkin Vladimir inhockey is still played today. For veteran teams, of course. Oversees the development of the Night Hockey League: his "patrimony" is Siberia.
He is still inconspicuous, does not require attention. Simply Vyatka, does its job reliably.
