Vitaly Portnikov: biography of young years
The future journalist was born in the very heart of Ukraine, in the glorious city of Kyiv. It happened on May 14, 1967. His parents were Eduard Petrovich and Klara Abramovna. Vitaly's father worked as a director at a local fabric store, and his mother was a qualified lawyer.
Vitaly Portnikov began his studies at school No. 53 in Kyiv, but due to circumstances, he soon transferred to another educational institution at number 41. It was during his school years that Viktor realized that he wanted to connect his life with writing.
So after finishing school in 1985, he decides to chooseeducation to match this dream. Alas, he did not succeed with the Kyiv university, since at that time there was a special policy there, according to which Jews were simply not accepted.
Therefore, he goes to Dnepropetrovsk University, where he enters the Faculty of Philology. After completing three courses, he successfully transferred to Moscow State University. There he receives a diploma in journalism, and a ticket to adulthood.
The life path of Vitaly Portnikov
Vitaly Portnikov begins to build his career as a student. So, in 1989, he was already publishing his articles for the Moscow Nezavisimaya Gazeta. Around the same time, the young writer began to collaborate with the publication "Youth of Ukraine".
In 1990, Vitaly got on the air of Radio Liberty. The station's management takes a liking to the journalist, and soon he is already hosting a number of his own programs ("Guest Time", "Proper Name", "Press Hour").
In 1994, Portnikov got the opportunity to print a column in the Mirror of the Week. He gladly agrees, but soon the newspaper was bought by Boris Berezovsky, and the journalist, by virtue of his convictions, decides to leave it.
In 2006, Vitaly Portnikov got a job in the weekly newspaper "Gazeta 24". Here he was entrusted with the position of chief editor, but she could not keep him for a long time. In October 2007, the writer leaves the editorial office.
And so, in 2009, he finally gets on the television channel TVi. Here he becomes the host of the program PravdaVitaly Portnikov. A year later, he is offered the position of editor-in-chief, which he gladly accepts.
Life today
After the revolution began in Ukraine in November 2013, Vitaly took the side of the Euromaidan. The tough political stance has led to the fact that he enlisted strong support from the current government of the country.
And in July 2015 he was appointed one of the observers to the board of the National Public Television and Radio Company of Ukraine.
