August 6, 1948 on the farm Tarasovka, in the Rostov region, in the family of the Don Cossacks, a boy was born - a future hero, covered with glory. His parents met in Manchuria after the end of the war with Japan. Both served inranks of the Soviet Army. After the appearance of the offspring, the couple went to the capital, where a few years later they also transported their son.

Goncharov Sergey grew up in a large family. He had four sisters and two brothers. He spent his childhood in a communal apartment. The room was small, only 9 square meters. But they lived together. Father often visited colleagues. Sergei Alekseevich himself likes to recall the special atmosphere of the officer fraternity, cheerful feasts with songs and stories about past battles. In 1963, the young man went to study at the Automotive College, he did not quit his job. Four years later he was drafted into the army. After completing the service, he returned to the factory. Soon he was invited to the Lubyanka for a conversation. From that moment on, his life took a sharp turn.

Group A

In all countries of the world at one time elite units were created, which were tasked with combating terrorism. The USSR was considered a prosperous power from this point of view, but politicians could see trends in changing the situation.

Goncharov Sergey entered the service in a special unit called the "Andropov group", abbreviated as "A". This part of the special troops was directly subordinate to the head of the country. The demands of these people were that they should be provided with unhindered exit to the United States, that is, they should be provided with documents and vehicles. We neutralized them pretty quickly, by the morning of the next day.

The next action of the terrorists turned out to be more thoughtful, therefore, difficult to neutralize them. In Mineralnye Vody, a gang led by a recidivist P. Yakshiyants again captured a class (4 "G") with a teacher. Thirty-two children with a teacher were on the bus. Remembering the clash with Alpha, which was inglorious for bandits, these terrorists placed cans of gasoline under the seats with children. They demanded money (two million dollars) and conditions for unhindered travel beyond the cordon.

Two groups were prepared for the military operation, one of them was headed by Sergei Goncharov. But this time they only had to wait almost a day. The matter was settled by negotiations. The bandits freed the children, received money and a plane to Israel. A day later, the special services of the party that received them turned to the KGB with a proposal to take the “gift” back. The terrorists were returned to the USSR and tried.

Order: Arrest Yeltsin

For fifteen years, the special forces had to neutralize many threats, Goncharov Sergey Alekseevich took part in many operations. Interesting facts that are no longer a state secret, he himself revealed to the public in an interview and a book.

This story shows the heroism of ordinary soldiers and the betrayal of the leadership of the country, which now does not exist. In August 1991, the Alpha group found itself at the center of a political struggle. They were instructed to settle down near the village of Arkhangelskoye and wait for instructions. Yeltsin was in this settlement. The wait continued until morning. The awakened villagers noticed strange soldiers hiding in the forest. The information reached the "object of development". But the capture did not succeed. None of the leaders of the GKChP had the fortitude to give the order. And this led to the collapse of the USSR.

Hot autumn 1993

There was a moment in the history of Alpha when they had to choose between a duty of oath and responsibility to people. We are talking about the order to storm the White House in 1991. A lot of people gathered around the government building. The operation could have resulted in huge casu alties. The soldiers of the unit refused to follow the order, they were not ready to fight ordinary citizens.

And in 1993, Alfa again found itself at the forefront of big politics. The fighters were ordered to arrest the instigators of the riot - Rutskoy and Khasbulatov. The parliament building was on fire, and there were people there. Instead of using weapons, the leadership of the group entered into negotiations with the Supreme Council. Result: lives saved. And Sergey Alekseevich Goncharov (deputy by that time) received a grateful response by chance, during a meeting withvoters.

As Sergei Goncharov himself writes, a middle-aged lady approached him. She asked if his subordinates were taking people out of the White House in '93. Having received an affirmative answer, the woman scattered in gratitude, telling an amazing story. Her eighteen-year-old son was among the rebels.
