Georgy Ivanovich Drozd - People's Artist of Ukraine, who played on the stages of such great theaters as the Lesya Ukrainka Theater, the Riga Russian Theater, the Odessa Russian Drama Theater, the Moscow Sovremennik. In addition to theater work, he has played more than eighty roles in films.

Biography of George Drozd. Start of the journey

The future famous actor was born on May 28, 1941 in the hero city of Kyiv, just before the start of the Great Patriotic War, so his childhood was very difficult. He was a very artistic boy, and after school he decided to enter the Kyiv Institute of Theater Arts. Karpenko-Kary, who graduated in 1963.

After studying, Georgy Drozd began working at the Riga Academic Theatre, where he faithfully served for eighteen years.

As Georgy Ivanovich himself admits, he fell on very favorable ground. The theater in which he began to work had a wonderful atmosphere, an interesting repertoire, many performances by foreign authors appeared on its stage among the first in the Soviet Union. Moving to Moscow

After leaving the Riga Theater, the already established artist Georgy Drozd decided to move to Moscow. There he immediately got to the Sovremennik Theater in place of Tabakov, who went to the Moscow Art Theater. But the actor did not stay long at the Sovremennik Theater, because he believed that he had nothing to do in the same theater with Valentin Gaft. He tried to get a job at the Moscow Art Theater, but a tragedy happened - Georgy Drozd's sister and father died, there was no one to take care of his mother, and Georgy made a difficult decision to move back to Kyiv.

Since 1988, George began to work at the Kiev Academic Theater of Russian Drama. Lesya Ukrainka. Here he worked until 2013. In 1999 he was awarded the title of People's Artist of Ukraine.

Working in movies

In addition to the theatre, the actor Georgy Drozd also acted in films. The number of his films exceeds eighty.

His first job in this field was the role in the movie "Happy Birthday". The audience hardly remembered him for this role, since it was small.

The most significant work, which Georgy Ivanovich always spoke of with warmth, love and nostalgia, was his role as a platoon commander in the film "Fidelity". He spoke with admiration of how great Pyotr Todorovsky combined the work of director and cameraman, and how brilliantly the actor Evgeny Evstigneev played.

After the beginning of the new century, George Drozd began to be invited to television series for small roles.

His latest film credits were The House with the Lilies and A Case for Two released in 2014.

Private life

The actor has been married more than once. His first wife was the actress Lyudmila Kurortnik. The couple had a son, Maxim, who later became a fairly well-known actor and boxing master.

In 1997, the ex-wife of Georgy Ivanovich went to the monastery. Son Maxim says that she used to be cheerful, she liked all the acting parties, but overnight Lyudmila was tired of everything. She began to actively attend the church, until she went there to live at all. Maxim Drozd says that she began to condemn the way her son lives, saying that he is unjust, but Maxim is not offended by her, but on the contrary, she always tries to help the monastery, to which Lyudmila dedicated her life.

The second wife of Georgy Drozd was also an actress - Anastasia Serdyuk. She was born in 1968, and was almost 27 years younger than her husband. In 1997, the couple had a daughter, Claudia. At the time of the birth of his daughter George was already 56years.

According to the established family tradition, the girl also became an actress, she played her first role at the age of ten.

In 2013, Georgy Ivanovich was diagnosed with a serious illness. He began to constantly disappear in hospitals for examinations, he periodically received a blood transfusion, but the actor could not recover. On June 10, 2015 Georgy Ivanovich Drozd died. The great actor was buried in his hometown of Kyiv.
