At this level, of course, they are not involved in state policy. However, the initial work is extremely important. Perhaps it is currently the most relevant. After all, it is at this level that you can talk with every pensioner, veteran, find out what worries or worries them. Such information is collected and systematized. Some problems can be solved immediately, others are systemic in nature and relate to the sphere of social policy.
Interaction with local authorities
Veteran's NGOs generally do not collect dues from their members. Some of them are financed from the budgets. Others exist on donations. It is clear that this money is negligible. To help their veterans, definitely notenough.

Veteran organizations focus on absolutely all issues of concern to senior citizens. This is a huge area of work. We have to provide legal and material assistance, medical services and more. And not only this. Elderly people sometimes need only attention and communication.
After all, many of them feel abandoned and useless. So the heads of organizations and volunteers have to spin in all directions. They organize holidays and run to the authorities to ask “uncomfortable questions”. You still need to get to the hospital or get a ticket to the sanatorium. In addition, you need to pay attention to each member of the team on holidays. Schoolchildren and youth are involved in this work. This is not only important for the elderly. It is necessary to think about the connection between generations, about the transfer of historical experience and attitude towards the Motherland to the young. Work is important for the state as a whole. Veteran organizations also have a "theoretical"plot. They have invaluable insight into the concrete implementation of laws on the ground. They can see which ones are working and which ones are failing or slowing down. These data are combined and transferred to the legislative body for further work. Public activity related to the life of veterans is necessary for any country. Otherwise, the elderly will have no one to turn to with their pain.
