Libraries are a place where many books in different areas are collected and everyone can come and choose a book to read, for work or for their hobby. There are such establishments in the city of Surgut.

The history of creation goes back more than 100 years, when for the first time in 1905 a public library was created, initiated by the Surgut district, the highest representative of power.
To date, there are 13 libraries, including Children's and Central. Also, each secondary school has its own mini-library, in preschool institutions, in college and other educational institutions.

The main library of the city. Pushkin has more than 10 halls, where books of various directions are located, from fiction to the hall of linguistics and regional studies.
There are more than 200 thousand books, annually the library fund is replenished with several tens of thousands of new books, not only thanks to the purchase, but also thanks to citizens who donate books to the library for permanent use.
In addition to the main task, Surgut libraries, including the Central one, perform such tasks and hold events that help broaden the horizons of citizens and guests of the city. Often there are quizzes, conferences dedicated to certain events or people. There are also competitions, for example, dedicated to the Year of Ecology in Russia, or such interesting events as Library Night and Total Dictation, and absolutely everyone can take part.

Libraries of Surgut are located in different parts of the city, and this institution is located at the address: Druzhby Avenue, 11a. Each child can come here, choose a book, stay in the reading room or visit the developmental reading center, which combined the reading room and the playroom, as the smallest children can come here. The center hosts such entertainments as reading fairy tales and poems, drawing lessons of illustrations for fairy tales.
For the little ones there are developing folding books, flip books, books with colorful pictures. There are several rooms for older children who already know how and love to read: for preschoolers, schoolchildren and teenagers over 16.
For the oldest, there are halls of fiction, industry and reference literature.
Libraries of Surgut, including the Children's Library, are trying to make it always interesting and wanting to return, so, in addition to books, they organized three clubs: the Magic Brush circle, created to instill a love of reading, the studio " SchoolSamodelkin" for the development of creative abilities in children, the puppet theater "Fairytale Teremok", the main task of which is to promote the book with the help of theatrical forms.
