Biography

Agafonova Ekaterina Andreevna was born in Astrakhan on February 1, 1984. It is known that her grandfather, Agafonov Vladimir Afanasyevich, was an honored military pilot of the USSR.

In 1998, as a schoolgirl, Ekaterina first acted as a presenter. She hosted a youth program on local television. After graduating from school in 2001 with a gold medal, the girl entered the public relations department of the Faculty of International Journalism at MGIMO.

Career

Ekaterina Agafonova, after graduating from the institute, got a job at the REN-TV channel, where for the first two years she was an international editor, producer and administrator.

In 2008, Ekaterina asked Alexei Abakumov, the chief editor of the channel, to act as a TV presenter.

Until 2016, she was the host of the news program on REN-TV. Hosted economic news, press reviews, morning and afternoon broadcasts.

In the summer of 2014, Agafonova was included in the sanctions list of journalists who were banned from entering the territory of Ukraine.

A year later, Ekaterina was nominated for the TEFI award in the category “News Program Host”. She was also chosen as the host of this ceremony and one of the persons as part of the rebranding of the REN-TV channel.
