Not so long ago, some 20-30 years ago, any high school student could answer the question of what communism is. In the country that was called the Soviet Union, all citizens were talking about this term, regardless of their social and property status. In this context, it should be noted that material we alth was distributed among all those living in this state equally. At least that's how it was proclaimed. And such an application was not a biting phrase, not a figure of speech, but one of the principles on which communist society was to be built. This principle is called briefly and attractively - equality.
Scientific communism, the foundations of which were laid in previous historical periods, as a discipline, was studied in higher educational institutions. It must be said right away that many provisions of this science were borrowed from other theories and concepts. Today, when discussing what communism is, many people brought up in a modern spirit cannot understandhow can you do without private property. Currently, the main task of the government is considered to be the privatization of all state assets. According to liberal economists and philosophers, it is only in private management that production capacities give the maximum effect.
Yes, among the mandatory conditions under which this socio-economic formation will operate, is the absence of private ownership of the means of production. At one time, a significant majority of the population was dumbfounded by this very thesis. Ninety years ago, when communism began to be actively built in Russia, all activists and adherents of this ideology had only theoretical training. The concept of "private property" very often included objects and things for personal use. Such as shoes, a razor or a toothbrush. And all these attributes were subject to socialization. Funny? Today it's funny, but in those days it was scary.
Of course, after many decades since collectivization began in the countryside, many things are seen and evaluated differently. The first thing to note is the vulgar interpretation of the private and the public. In any discussion about what communism is, the thesis is mentioned that the bowels of the earth are public property. For several decades this has been the case. Today they are given under various pretexts for private use. Has the standard of living of the average Russian increased because of this? The question remainsopen. And under socialism, it could be answered positively. Communist ideology has many attractive qualities. Freedom, equality and brotherhood of peoples in the national aspect. Respect for a person who does work - in moral terms.
Attention to the weak and care for the weak were the policy of the socialist state. If one is to ask what communism is, one must turn to the experience of the People's Republic of China. It combines communist principles and a privately owned economy in an amazing way. Of course, the process is in a dynamic state, and its completion is still far away. What will be communism, our descendants will see.
