All-Russian holidays: examples, list

In Russia today there are seven public holidays - those specified in article 112 of the Labor Code of the Russian Federation. These are non-working days. The country has known both from different historical times and the all-Russian holidays established in recent years. List 112 of the article has, however, an exception. Although Christmas is a non-working day, it is not considered a public holiday.

Significantly more dates are celebrated that have not received the status of a non-working day. Both one and the other are all-Russian holidays. We will talk about them in the article.

What are the national holidays?

These are special days relating to a variety of events: politics and religion, certain professions, memorable, folk dates and so on.

Spring

Eighth of March, First and Ninth of May are celebrated in the flowering months. These are three public holidays that fall in the spring.

On the day of spring and labor, trade unions take to the streets with banners and march through the city center with them. This holiday is celebrated not only in Russia, but all over the world. But Victory Day is a holiday of the Russian people and the former republics of the Soviet Union. It was the Soviet people who suffered the greatest losses in this bloody war and played a major role in the victory over Nazi Germany.

Besides them, many other dates are celebrated. These are mainly professional holidays, among which are: Day of a forensic expert, employee of drug control, geodesy and cartography, penitentiary system, economic security, trade, services and housing and communal services, hydrometeorological service, culture, investigating authorities, military commissariats, cryptographer, diver, freelancer and others.

Summer

The national holiday in the hot season is the Day of Russia, celebrated on the twelfth of June.

The most important memorable date for this period is the twenty-second of June, the beginning of the Great Patriotic War, the Day of Memory and Sorrow. Then national flags are flown at half mast, and television services try to refrain from entertainment programs whenever possible. The people mourn and pay tribute to the memory and respect of those who died during the war.

Besides these important dates, the summer months are filled with numerous professional holidays. Various festivals are also held, which over time may well be erected in all-Russian holidays. Some of them are organized right in nature and last for several days. Especially often they are musical events.

Thus, the Invasion rock festival, which has become truly all-Russian in recent years, was held in Bolshoi Zavidovo in 2015 and has already gathered two hundred thousand fans.

Autumn

What are the national holidays in the cool and rainy season?

Autumn begins on the first of September, when children go to school. By this time, parents had already pretty much run around the shops and bought everything they needed for their studies. It's Knowledge Day.

The last public holiday of the year is celebrated on the fourth of November. It is called National Unity Day. The holiday is very young. Only at the end of 2004 was adoptedfederal law "On the Days of Military Glory (Victory Days of Russia)" and since then a new date has been celebrated in our country.

All-Russian holidays of a professional orientation in this period are the Day of the patrol service, the Russian guard, financier, tester, tanker, programmer, HR manager, recruiter, secretary, educator, machine builder, motorist, customs officer, sign language interpreter, military signalman, personnel worker, teacher, bailiff and others.

From entertainment holidays, the international day of KVN is interesting. The game originated in the Soviet Union and continues to develop in Russia. Today, when many television entertainment programs are invented in the Western world and only copied on Russian television, such and similar games are especially important for preserving national identity.

Winter

All-Russian holidays in Russia during the cold season are, first of all, the New Year and Defender of the Fatherland Day.

Russian people love to celebrate holidays for a long time. And so we have New Year not only on the first of January, but also (in the old style) on the thirteenth.

On February 23, women congratulate men on Defender of the Fatherland Day. Recently, there have been discussions about celebrating this holiday on the sixth of May, on the Day of St. George the Victorious. But for now, this is the February date.

Orthodox Christians celebrate Christmas on the seventh of January. It should be noted that the holiday for Catholics anda number of representatives of other religions falls on the twenty-fifth of December. The controversy here comes from the old and new styles of calendars. The Orthodox celebrate the holiday according to the Julian calendar, while Catholics and Protestants celebrate it according to the Gregorian calendar.

Examples of all-Russian holidays in winter are the Day of the prosecutor's office, the Russian press, students, navigator, bank employee, network manager, lawyer, re altor, registry office, energy, lifeguard, dentist, diplomatic worker and so on.

How many holidays are there in Russia

In total in our country there are (according to various estimates) from two hundred to two hundred and eleven dates when all-Russian holidays are celebrated. The list, as you can see, is quite extensive.

If you want to have a reason to celebrate a particular day, you can always find a holiday. There are more than two hundred all-Russian ones. And if you add international or celebrated in another state to them, then it is unlikely that you will be able to find a day without a holiday.
