The city of Kemerovo is rightfully considered the center of the coal mining and chemical industry of the Russian Federation. The population of the city is distinguished by the same feature as the majority of the inhabitants of Siberia - diligence. Kemerovo is one of the largest settlements in this region. The city is the administrative center of its region, the heart of Kuzbass. This name was assigned to the settlement due to the largest coal basin in the world - the Kuznetsk.
History of occurrence
It was from the inhabitants that the name of the settlement came - Kemerovo. The population was called in those days Shors or Kuznetsk Tatars. And in the native language of the inhabitants, the word kemer was used to designate a slope or mountain.
The first settlements appeared on this site in the seventeenth century. Verkhotomsk prison, the purpose of which was to protect the state from raidsKalmyks and Kirghiz, in fact, was the first settlement that arose on the territory of modern Kemerovo. Soon the prison changed its direction and became one of the places for the development of agriculture. The population of Kemerovo in those days was represented mainly by peasants.
Coal boom
Great revival in the village occurred after the discovery of the Shcheglovskoye coal deposit. Then, according to the order of Anna Ioannovna, the Siberian tract was laid. In the developed area, new villages actively appeared. People worked in the field of trade, were engaged in carting and yard work. The workers of the mines and factories were exiles and convicts, who were driven along the highway.
More natural resources were needed to increase production capacity. More and more new deposits were actively developed. The construction of the Trans-Siberian Railway began. This event marked the beginning of the industrial development of Kuzbass. New workers' settlements appeared, which eventually turned into large cities.
In the early twentieth century, the Kemerovo mine became the property of the Kopikuz Joint Stock Company. The change of ownership caused a large influx of labor. These were both local peasants and visitors from various provinces. A special category of workers were prisoners of war.
A breakthrough in the industry occurred with the advent of Soviet power. For the active development of the coal and metallurgical industry, the government decides to create an industrial colony in Kemerovo. Populationincreased sharply, which was facilitated by the influx of visitors from abroad. Engineers and architects from many European and American countries wanted to work on the world's only industrial colony. Workers arriving at AIC were engaged in the development of coal deposits and the development of infrastructure. They laid roads, built houses, schools, hospitals.
In 1924, the city became the district center, and eight years later received its modern name. Shcheglovsk was renamed Kemerovo.
Wartime
With the beginning of the Great Patriotic War, most of the townspeople went to the front. But mining enterprises continued to fully supply not only the army, but also the country with fuel. Men have been replaced in the workplace by women and teenagers. This once again indicates that the entire population of the city of Kemerovo, young and old, is very hardworking.
In the midst of the war, the city received the status of a regional center. One fifth of the settlements of the Novosibirsk region became subordinate to Kemerovo. This development of events is not surprising because the inhabitants of Kemerovo accounted for more than forty percent of the total population of the Novosibirsk region. In addition, the city was already an administrative center and had a strong industrial potential.
In the post-war years, the settlement was intensively rebuilt. Tall buildings appeared. The number of scientific, technical and cultural institutions increased. The industrial complex developed steadily.
Employment Options
The population of Kemerovo is mainly a workerClass. So, in the city there will always be vacancies for chemists, engineers and specialists of any other technical professions. The active development of the service sector has influenced the emergence of vacancies in this industry as well: we are talking mainly about the trade sector.
The best job opportunities in Kemerovo are:
- The most prestigious is the work in the Holding of the Siberian Business Union. The organization conducts business activities in many industries - from the production of alcoholic beverages to the coal mining industry.
- Khimprom association is full of vacancies. The company is engaged in the production of goods of organic and inorganic chemistry. Of the proposed employment options, the company requires not only specialists of a narrow profile, but also, for example, programmers or cooks.
- Koks, an open joint stock company specializing in the production of pig iron, can be a great start for a future career. They start with working professions, but the salary and prospects justify the hard work.
Demographics
Until recently, the largest number of residents in the region was recorded not at all in Kemerovo. The population prevailed in Novokuznetsk. This is explained by the fact that in the days of the Soviet Union, the management of enterprises preferred to work away from the authorities. And since it is more difficult to transfer enterprises, all the ruling structures settled in Kemerovo.
But the city was in second place in the region until 2015. Demographic growth, uncharacteristic for Russia, contributed to the fact that the population of Kemerovo became equal to almost 552 thousand people, which is almost nine hundred inhabitants more than in Novokuznetsk. This trend indicates the stable development of the city.
