Surgut is a multinational city that is successfully developing due to the extraction of raw materials. Despite the harsh winters of Siberia, it has a developed infrastructure and a priority for the state and its economy. Among other things, this city has a long history. In honor of some events, architectural monuments were erected here.

In the heart of the city on the transport ring "Lenin Avenue - Ostrovsky Street", a monument stands on which four men stand. They are images of the founders of Surgut. The authorities decided to perpetuate the estates, the people who were involved in the construction of this city. The monument was designed by two architects at once: S. Mikhailov and N. Sokolov, as well as sculptors L. Aristov, M. Tskhadadze and A. Ivanov.
The statue has very impressive characteristics. It consists of bronze weighing 40 tons and a height of about 15 meters. It is divided into the exposition and the pedestal on which it is located. The monument was cast very far from Surgut, at a foundry in St. Petersburg.

It was the Cossacks who were engaged in the development of Siberia, the construction of new cities, the fight against adversity and enemies. But these are not just military people. Siberian Cossacks were also workers who erected city walls, houses, churches and other buildings characteristic of that time.
Unlike the western part of Russia, the inhabitants of Siberia, including Surgut, were free people. They were not subject to serfdom. Freedom-loving and strong-willed people at all times inhabited the city, thanks to which it was able to grow so much.

The fourth figure depicted on the monument to the founders of Surgut is a clergyman. During the founding of the city, many icons, books and relics migrated from the European part of Russia. Various clergy also arrived here, wishing to preach Orthodoxy in these harsh lands. The spiritual life, way of life, traditions of the inhabitants of this settlement were somehowintertwined with the Christian religion.
Today Surgut is a developing city located in Western Siberia. It has a total area of about 350 square kilometers. The population of the city today is about 360,000 people. The population is growing and unemployment is constantly decreasing.
