But how to distinguish intentions from manifestations? Superficial or forced from the sincere? Let's take an example: an alcoholic in the family. For him, as a rule, kindness from his loved ones is forgiveness, this is the absence of criticism and imposing their will on him. Simply put, he believes that if someone wishes him well, notwill force him to heal. A good wife will clean up after him, call to work, go to get a bottle… But in fact, every next dose of alcohol kills him, brings the inevitable end closer, aggravates the suffering of the whole family and him in particular.
So is kindness in this case an indulgence of weaknesses and illness? Psychologists and therapists say the opposite: a greater good in this case can be done if you turn away from the patient. Let him fall so he can get up later. After all, sobriety cannot be "forced", it must come from the person himself. Therefore, he must realize the full horror of his position. And how will he be able to do this if those close to him do not give him the opportunity to understand that something is wrong?
Another example that will show us that kindness is a relative concept, trade and business. Of course, social responsibility, good intentions, the desire to benefit people are important components of success. However, what can be the goodness of people doing business? To give work to those in need? Probably yes. But what if they do not have the necessary qualities, qualifications, knowledge? Will they benefit the business and the common cause, or will it accelerate bankruptcy? An entrepreneur can, for example, dedicate all his proceeds to charity. But then the business will have nothing to develop, cash receipts will begin to dry up … And the company will have to be closed. Or another example: can an entrepreneur be kind to his partners and competitors? I.eto enter into a position, go forward, help and forgive, for example, defects or marriage?
From all of the above, we see that kindness is a concept that depends on interpretation, on what exactly the speaker puts into the meaning of the word. We can also conclude that this is a relative, not an absolute value in real life. The theme of "kindness" has occupied people for a long time.
First of all, in relation to the supreme forces, to the gods. Are they kind or primarily just? Is it possible that these two concepts are mutually exclusive? Are these higher forces indifferent to the fate of a person or take part in it, are they sympathetic? And finally, do the gods forgive or punish? If they are punished, then on the basis of what - from actions, manifestations of human qualities or intentions? As you can see, these questions from time immemorial remain without unambiguous answers. We have given several examples in which kindness turns out to be weakness. However, others are also possible. Where kindness is strength, it is the power of forgiveness. Everyone, however, decides this question for himself.
