The start of the journey
Alexander Vladlenovich Shubin was born on 1965-18-07. Almost nothing is known about his childhood and youth. In 1984-1985. the future historian served in the army, and upon his return he entered the Lenin Pedagogical Institute in Moscow.
By 1982, Shubin had formed Marxist views, and during his service he concluded that there was exploitation in the Soviet Union, so from 1985 he began to participate in the socialist movement.
In 1986, Alexander Vladlenovich was one of the founders of the neo-populist informal circle and the author of the ideology of the communitysocialism. In May 1987, he founded the Obshchina Historical and Political Club, and a year later he created an informal socialist magazine with the same name. He was the lead author and member of the editorial board.
In 1988 he became a member of the FSOK coordinating council. He acted as one of the organizers and participants of large democratic rallies that took place in the spring and summer of 1988 on Pushkin Square, as a result of which he was detained by the police. In his speeches, he sharply criticized the position of the Central Committee of the CPSU before the nineteenth party conference.
In 1987-1991. Shubin supported the labor movement and was among the founders of the Self-Management group. During this period, he received practical knowledge of how modern Russian production functions, and strengthened his opinion that it is impossible to work effectively without self-government.
Further activities
In 1989, after receiving a diploma, Alexander Vladlenovich Shubin began to study at the graduate school of the Institute of World History of the Soviet Academy of Sciences. In the same year, at a rally held in Luzhniki, he came out with the initiative to convene a round table of political forces.
The leaders of the closed discussion club "Moscow Tribune" drew attention to Shubin and accepted him into their ranks. So Alexander Vladlenovich joined the elite of the democratic movement. During the same period, he became co-chairman of the Green Party.
In 1992 he graduated from graduate school, but remained to work at the institute. Progressed from junior to leading researcher. In 1993defended his Ph. D. thesis under the guidance of Doctor of Sciences and Professor Y. Drabkin.
In 1992-1999 Alexander Vladlenovich Shubin criticized the regime of Boris Yeltsin. In 1992-1994 was a member of the Council of the SoES, and in June 1993 represented him at the Constitutional Conference. The historian managed to introduce into the draft Constitution the provisions concerning the protection of nature and the environmental rights of citizens. In addition, Shubin advocated the equality of the rights of the regions, the limitation of presidential power and the abolition of the death pen alty.
In 1991-1997. Alexander Vladlenovich worked as a columnist for the trade union newspaper Solidarity and was the editor of the newspaper's policy department. In 1997-1998 served as Advisor to the First Deputy Prime Minister of the Russian Federation.
2000s
In 2000, Alexander Vladlenovich Shubin received his Ph. D. Since 2001 he has been a member of the Ukrainian-Russian Commission of Historians. From 2004 to 2009 was a coordinator and member of the Informational community working group.
In 2005, the historian was included in the political council of the Russian Union of the Greens. In the same year, at a social forum, Shubin proclaimed the need to revive the Soviets on the basis of protest groups.
Since 2008, Alexander Vladlenovich has been working as the editor of the Soviet Research website. In 2009-2014 was a member of the Mass Council, the headquarters of the Pirate Party of Russia and the Council of the Left Front. In the LF, the historian served as a member of the executive committee and coordinator. In September 2013, he left these posts due to the fact that he wasbusy with scientific work. March 2015 left the Left Front.
Books
Alexander Vladlenovich Shubin is the author of many literary works, including a history textbook for the ninth grade and a science fiction novel The Witch's Ring. The scientist's books are devoted to the problems of history, the patterns of historical development, international relations, Soviet social movements and currents. He is also one of the authors of the Encyclopedia for Children and the Great Russian Encyclopedia.
One of the last sensational works of Alexander Vladlenovich Shubin is “The History of Novorossiya”, published in December 2014. According to the author, representatives of the military historical society offered him to write such a book when, for obvious reasons, interest in history arose in Russia and traditions of the Northern Black Sea region. Shubin just specialized in the study of these places, so he agreed. The paper deals only with the Northern Black Sea region, excluding the Crimea. In general, this is a monograph of an overview and historical nature.
Private life
Alexander Vladlenovich Shubin does not advertise his personal life. It is known that he is married to a woman named Natalya. The historian's favorite books are The Doomed City and Life and Fate. Shubin likes to spend his free time reading scientific literature.
