Igor Anatolyevich Orlov is one of the governors who are not professional politicians. Most of his life he worked in the management of large factories, as a result of which he earned a reputation as a skilled and competent manager. Already at a respectable age, he was approved by the governor of the Arkhangelsk region and manages the region to this day. The powers of the politician end in 2020.
Honoured Shipbuilder
Igor Anatolyevich Orlov was born in Deb altseve, in the Donetsk region, in 1964. Here he successfully graduated from school, after which he went to conquer the Northern capital, enrolling in the Leningrad Institute of Instrument Engineering. A native of Donbass, he studied diligently and left the walls of a prestigious educational institution with a diploma in electrical engineering. The young distribution specialist was sent to Severodvinsk, where his great career began.
In 1987, Igor Orlov began his career from the positionelectrician at a large military plant "Zvyozdochka", which specialized in shipbuilding. A year later, he had grown to a process engineer and since then he has been steadily moving up the career ladder.
For twenty years, Igor Anatolyevich changed the positions of chief technologist, head of the economics department, until he settled in the position of deputy general director.
In 2008, the future governor of the Arkhangelsk region decided to change the climate to a milder one and moved closer to the B altic resorts - to Kaliningrad. Here he headed the large Yantar shipbuilding plant, where he worked as a general director until 2011. After Yantar, the honored shipbuilder briefly acted as deputy executive director for production at the Avtotor car assembly company.
Political career
In 2012, the resignation of the Governor of the Arkhangelsk region Ilya Mikhalchuk took place. The most suitable candidate was Igor Orlov, who was approved in his position by the Assembly of Deputies of the northern region.
The choice of a person with rich industrial experience for the position of head of the Arkhangelsk region was not accidental, since the largest project to develop lead-zinc ores on Novaya Zemlya was to be implemented in the region.
Accordingly, the former engineer had to take on, among other important functions, the mission of the curator of the Pavlovsk field. The main investor of the large-scale project is the state corporation Rosatom.
In 2015, news publications spread the news that the governor of the Arkhangelsk region had submitted his resignation. However, this decision was planned, since Orlov planned to take part in direct elections of the governor in order to legitimize his status. The elections were held in September 2015 and, having gained 53 percent of the vote, Igor Anatolyevich regained his governor's status. According to him, he plans to remain in office until the end of the term - until 2020.
Scandals
The reputation of the governor of the Arkhangelsk region is spoiled by an unpleasant story that happened when he was with the director at the Kaliningrad "Yantar". Deputy Prime Minister of the Russian Federation Igor Sechin initiated a major audit, which revealed massive cases of large purchases without mandatory tenders among suppliers.
Igor Orlov's brother, Alexei Andronov, was responsible for the supply at that time. After the audit, he escaped with dismissal, after which the story was hushed up. Nevertheless, after becoming governor, Orlov appointed the offending supplier as his deputy for personnel, as a result of which he gave rise to talk about nepotism, which flourishes in the government of the region.
In addition, the story of how Igor Anatolyevich confessed on a lie detector about drinking alcohol before traveling by car was publicized.
Family
The Governor of the Arkhangelsk region Igor Orlov is a respectablefamily man. He has been married for many years, during which time he raised a son and a daughter. The official's wife, Tatyana Pavlovna Orlova, became the first lady of Arkhangelsk and actively engaged in charitable activities. She is a member of the board of trustees of the regional children's hospital and maternity hospital, and also successfully manages the women's he alth center and the local children's football team.
Orlova's daughter Daria is a graduate of the Moscow Academy of Foreign Trade. Gleb's son is a professional footballer.
