History and meaning

The author of the coat of arms of Rybinsk is Comrade King of Arms, collegiate adviser I. I. von Enden. In 1863 a reform took place. It concerned heraldic images, and in the course of its implementation, a project for an updated coat of arms of Rybinsk was created. Officially, this sign of the county town of the Yaroslavl province was never approved. In accordance with the project, a wave-shaped belt was placed in a scarlet shield. At the end of the shield, he was accompanied by two golden sterlets. Also here you could see a golden pillar. He framed a shield. The coat of arms of the Yaroslavl province was located in the free part. The shield was surrounded by golden ears. He was crowned with a silver wall crown. The ears were connected by the Alexander ribbon. The historical coat of arms of the city was not used during the Soviet period. In 1984 the city was renamed Andropov. No coat of arms was created for a settlement with this name. In 1989, the name Rybinsk was returned to the city. It was part of the municipal district of the same name.

Modernity

In 2001, a new coat of arms was approved. It was assigned to the Rybinsk municipal district and almost completely repeated the historical version of the heraldic badge of 1778. In the period 2001-2002, in accordance with the order of the city administration, additions were made to the coat of arms of Rybinsk. Thus, a ceremonial version of the image arose. It is also called complete. ATIn this version, the “ancient royal crown” crowned the shield, an oak wreath appeared around it, which was tied with a red Alexander ribbon. The coat of arms was redrawn by artists Olesya Glushchenko and Nikolai Tarasenko. There is no information that this version of the heraldic sign was officially approved.

In 2006, a municipal reform was carried out in Russia. As a result, the Rybinsk municipal district ceased to exist. In this case, the symbols were preserved. They were received by the urban district of Rybinsk. The municipal area remained without a coat of arms until 2008. After that, this heraldic sign was approved. The symbol of the municipal district was created on the basis of the historical version of the coat of arms of Rybinsk. To date, the described designations of the municipal district and district have not been included in the heraldic register. Discussing the coat of arms, a few words should be said about the flag of the city. This legal identification mark also serves as the official symbol of the municipality of interest to us. The flag was approved in 2001, on July 17. It was created on the basis of the coat of arms of Rybinsk. When compiling it, the rules and traditions of vexillology, national, socio-economic, cultural, historical local traditions were taken into account.
