Mount Sugomak is located in the Chelyabinsk region, it is the second largest in this region. It is located on the western border of the city of Kyshtym, next to the highest mountain of the Egoza region. The height of Sugomak is 591 m.
Name and origin of the mountain
The name of the mountain has Bashkir roots, which means "water rat". In addition to the described object, other natural objects have the same name - a lake, a cave and a reserve.
There is a beautiful local legend about the origin of such objects as Mount Sugomak and Egoza. According to legend, a young guy Sugomak fell in love with a girl Egoza, who was from another hostile Bashkir family. Relatives tried to separate the lovers, and they decided to escape from their native land. Young people were very worried that they brought a lot of grief to their relatives, but they could not stop loving each other. Then they turned to the gods and asked for peace in their native Bashkir land, and for themselves - never to be separated. The gods fulfilled the request of the lovers, returned them to their native lands and made them mountains that stand next to each other and mourn their love. A lake was formed from the tears of Egoza and Sugomak.
Cave
Mount Sugomak has a peak that is composed of rocky rocks. Broad-leaved forests spread at the foot. This area is practically devoid of vegetation. An unusual cave formed at the foot of the eastern slope of the mountain. Its uniqueness lies in the fact that it consists of rocks of white marble, which are not inherent in this region. It itself is small, 125 m long. This is the second largest marble cave in the Urals (the first - Salnikova - is only 9 m longer). The entrance to it is an inverted trapezoid shape 3 m high, 6 m wide. The cave consists of three grottoes connected by narrow passages. It does not contain the usual stalactites and stalagmites, because it does not contain limestone rocks, but consists entirely of marble.
The first grotto is named Privhodova. It is small in size, has a slight slope, and due to the large entrance it is very bright. In winter, bizarre ice forms resembling stalactites form here.
The second grotto is a large hall, with high walls and a damp floor made of clay. Unlike the first, the air temperature in it is constant, warm.
You need to descend into the third grotto with a rope, as it is located at a depth of 4 m. It resembles a narrow corridor, at the end of which there is a small source.
Lake and stream
At 120 m from the entrance to the cave, a spring of Maryina's tears breaks through. Next to him stretched the eponymous meadow. The spring is a thin stream, with a total length of 300m, flows into the lake.
On the other side of the mountain at the foot there is a small reservoir. Its total area is almost 3 km2, the length of the coastline is about 15 km. The average depth of the lake is within 2-3 m, the maximum is 5 m. During the spring flood, the reservoir becomes deeper - the water level increases to 7 meters. The eastern and northern shores are composed of crystalline rocks and overgrown with larch. There are 5 small islands in the lake suitable for recreation. The largest of them is Birch. Plots with alder plantations, willow groves and small pine forests are scattered everywhere.
