Cheboksary Bay (Cheboksary - the capital of Chuvashia) is located in the historical site of the main city of the republic. History
Until the 90s of the twentieth century, a city district was located on the site of the bayCheboksary. However, after the construction of the hydroelectric power station, it was decided to flood this part of the territory. In 1996, a dam was erected that controlled the water level. Thanks to this, this area of the city was significantly ennobled externally. Over time, the dam was given a poetic name - "The Road to the Temple", as it led to the monastery through the church of the 17th century. Currently, it is recognized as a historical monument. This is how the artificial bay was formed.
Cheboksary is a very beautiful city. Fountains were built on the bay. From a distance, they look just great. The coastline is concreted, a fence has been built along almost the entire perimeter, and lighting has been provided.
Neighbourhood
You can get to the water area by public transport, having reached the Red Square (stop). Then they move only on foot. For those who want to enjoy picturesque views, it is proposed to walk along the Moscow bridge. It passes through the Cheboksary Bay. Cheboksary is divided by this bridge into two parts: historical and modern. Each of them is unique in its own way. In the modern part, you can see the Presidential Palace, the Treasury building and take a walk around the business center of the city. In the historical - there are many museums, architectural monuments, squares and churches.

Despite the fact that the bay in Cheboksary is artificial, it is a favorite vacation spot for most citizens. Here you can have a great time both in summer and in winter. In warm weather, vacationers ride boats and catamarans. Herethere are equipped beaches where you can sunbathe and swim. Biking and rollerblading are also available. You can simply walk and visit the historical sites located near the bay. These are the Singing Field, Red Square and the monument to the Patron Mother. Along the entire reservoir there are many bars, restaurants, cafes.
In winter, the already traditional races on the bay are held. Cheboksary are proud of these competitions. The length of the track is more than a kilometer, and the width is about 22 m. Both Russian athletes and guests from other countries take part in the synchronized ring race.
