In November 1964, the monument "To the Conquerors of Space" was opened in Moscow, the design of which provided premises for a space museum. The idea of creating such an exposition belonged to the famous designer S. P. Korolev. In September 1967, the Central Committee of the CPSU issued a corresponding resolution on the organization of the Museum of Cosmonautics in the premises of the monument.

A little later, the Alley of Space Heroes was created in front of him. Now it is a favorite vacation spot not only for local residents, but also for many tourists. Children here can go rollerblading, scooter or bicycle, which they do with great pleasure and do as soon as possible.

The opening of the museum was timed to coincide with the 20th anniversary of Yuri Gagarin's flight into space and took place in April 1981. It is forbiddennot to mention that the Cosmonautics Museum in those days occupied an area of 3200 sq.m, of which only 800 sq.m were used. More than 100 exhibits were exhibited in the halls, including samples of space technology and cosmonaut equipment.

Today, more than 85,000 items are stored in museum funds. In May 2006, the museum was closed for renovation, after which an additional area of 4,500 sq.m appeared. Three years later, in April, a new and very interesting exposition was opened. This helped attract even more curious guests here.
