Throwing down from an insignificant height, the Kamyshlinsky waterfall is a very spectacular natural object of the Altai Mountains. It breaks at the foot of the rocks, scattering into a myriad of sprays sparkling with all the colors of the rainbow. The impressive natural monument is popular with many tourists.
Location of the waterfall
In the Altai Territory, across the expanses of the Shebalinsky District, the Katun River flows. On its left bank, in the low mountains, the Kamyshlinsky waterfall murmurs merrily, hidden among coniferous forests. A water column falls from a low ledge on the Kamyshla River, 400 meters from its mouth.
Near the natural monument are the villages of Barangol and Ust-Sema. From them to Gorno-Altaisk 50 kilometers. Its closest neighbors are the mouth of the Sema River and the Tavdinsky Caves. The 490th kilometer of the Chuysky tract passes near the waterfall on the right bank of the Katun.
Tourist facilities in the waterfall area
The waterfall is adjacent to the Tsarskaya Okhota tourist complex. From the camp site to it downstream of the Katun River, a path was laid1.5 kilometers long. The route rests on a suspension bridge thrown across the Katun.
Overcoming the wobbly bridge, travelers have time to enjoy the stunning panoramic views from the unsteady structure to the river rapids, dizzying whirlpools, majestic cliffs and forests. Behind the bridge is a coniferous forest with a path leading to a waterfall.
Before tourists get to the Kamyshlinsky waterfall, Altai will fill their souls with joy from contemplating colorful forest and mountain landscapes, man-made objects. Here, among the trees, lurked a makeshift dwelling built of wood.
Penetrating inside the building, travelers take great photos in a forest hut with original decoration. On the way to the waterfall every now and then there are all sorts of intricate figures made of knots and sticks. The walk along the improved path takes from 40 minutes to an hour.
There are several camp sites in this region, including the Royal Hunt complex. Each of them provides many services and entertainment. The centers offer river rafting, motor boat rides, bike and horseback rides, and roller skating.
How to get to the Kamyshli waterfall
The Kamyshli waterfall attracts tourists with the harmony and beauty of falling water streams. How to get to the natural monument? There are three ways to visit the falls. The first, shortest route starts at the tourist center "Royal Hunt" andleads through a suspension bridge thrown over the Katun. A fee of 50 rubles per person is charged for crossing the bridge.
However, not every tourist decides to use the pedestrian bridge because of the fear of heights and the constantly staggering structure. Some travelers prefer to pay boatmen to take them to the opposite shore. The crossing on a motor boat costs 200-300 rubles (as bargained) per person.
Using the second way, first of all they get to the village of Ust-Sema, pass over the bridge on the left bank of the Katun, turn right onto the paved highway, and follow it to the children's camp, from which a walking path leads to the waterfall.
From the camp sites scattered in the vicinity of Lake Aya, Chemal and the Katun River, organized excursions regularly depart. By joining the excursions, you will not have to worry about how to visit the Kamyshlinsky waterfall.
Description of the waterfall
Before flowing into the Katun, the Kamyshla River rushes down in two stunning cascades, rushing down from a height of 12 meters. Streams form powerful rumbling water columns. And although the height of the cascades is small, they are incredibly effective.
Beauty and accessibility have made the Kamyshlinsky waterfall the most popular natural object in the lower reaches of the Katun. Gorny Altai generally pleases the soul with beautiful landscapes. And in this place they are just amazing.
Cascades are conditionally divided into three parts. Above, where the ledge is clearly marked, the waters of Kamyshly flow calmly towards the Katun. Water flows in the centerover steep rocky surfaces. Below, water streams with noise and roar are rapidly breaking down from a sheer cliff in the form of a ledge.
The surrounding mountain range near the natural monument is composed of quartzites, limestones, crystalline schists and other rocks. The rocks are overgrown with moss. Their slopes were covered with forests.
