The flag of Pakistan is a rectangular canvas in which the length and width are related as 3:2. The field of the cloth is 3/4 dark green. In its left part (near the shaft) there is a white vertical stripe. On a green background in the center are a white crescent and a 5-pointed star.

In August 1947, the modern flag of Pakistan was officially approved. The meaning of the symbolism depicted on it:

Usage protocols

  • The national flag of Pakistan should always be on the same level with other flags or above them. Above it is only allowed to fly the UN flag in UN buildings.
  • The flag must be freely attached to the flagpole on the left side.
  • The banner must not touch the ground, shoes or feet.
  • The Parliament of Pakistan is the only building on which the national flag always flies. In all other cases, the banner is raised at dawn and lowered before nightfall.
  • Ascension and descent must always take place in a solemn atmosphere and be accompanied by military salutes.
  • It is forbidden to lower it into the grave during burial.
  • The national symbol must always be given respect. It must not be soiled, it must not be depicted on household items.
  • It is mandatory to raise the banner to its full height on the following dates: March 23 - Pakistan Day, August 14 - Independence Day, December 25 - Muslim leader Muhammad Ali Jinn's birthday.

The national flag is allowed to be flown on the vehicles of the President, Prime Minister, President of the Senate, Speaker of the National Assembly, Chief Justice, Provincial Governors and some ministers, as well as Pakistan's ambassadors
