When you arrive in Perm, one of the first attractions that Permians will show you will be a monument to the heroes of the front and rear. It was created by the great sculptor of the twentieth century, who has already passed away - Vyacheslav Mikhailovich Klykov. The architect of this project in 1985 was Roman Ivanovich Semerdzhiev, who subsequently worked repeatedly with V. M. Klykov.

Perm Esplanade

Until the end of the last century, no one in the city had heard of such a place - an esplanade. There were residential two-story houses here, which were demolished in the middle of the twentieth century without regret. At first it was supposed to use the cleared space for the construction of new houses. The location was unattractive, far from central. But the architect G. Igoshin painted over the green field here, thus mothballing this site of the city for something else. Wits immediately dubbed it the local "airfield".

But there were far-sighted people in those years in the West Ural Economic Council. Anatoly Soldatov, his leader, supported the architect's decision. So the square appeared in the city,which everyone now knows as the esplanade.

Transforming the outskirts of the city into its center

In 1982, the premises of the Perm Drama Theater were built here. Esplanade, being between it and the modern building of the Legislative Assembly, required a decent design.

At that time, the issue of the installation site in Perm of a monument to the heroes of the front and rear to the 40th anniversary of the victory over the Nazis was being decided. The monumental structure required the possibility of its circular inspection, which is not easy to do in the city. At the last moment, the decision was made in favor of the esplanade. The majestic monument became its center, balancing the huge area.

In the same 1985, next to the monument to the heroes of the front and rear, an unusual fountain for the city with color music was launched, which was dismantled only after 26 years.

Without a doubt, this is a monument to all the people who lived and won the great war for freedom. It could be installed in any Soviet city, but Permians were honored.

Warrior –quite young, almost a schoolboy, raising his weapon as a sign of future victory, goes to the west. It was from there that the cruel enemy came.

The worker, looking to the east, to where the vast country lies, where numerous plants and factories have been evacuated, raised his hand, uniting everyone who stands at the machines, sits on tractors, will work around the clock for the front. Basically it is, of course, children and women. But the complex, highly qualified work was carried out by specialists left behind for this.

In front of the Perm monument to the heroes of the front and rear, you fully understand what national unity is, what a powerful and invincible force it is, and how proud it is that we become exactly like this when a common misfortune comes to the house.

The works of V. Klykov, installed in different cities in memory of great people or events, are conceived and executed in such a way that they necessarily affect the most intimate in the human soul. Looking at his works, you forget that there is a cold stone in front of you. You simply live in harmony with these people, are concerned about their care, are in solidarity and are proud of their unity.

Life around the monument

Now this is the very center of the city, a beautiful well-groomed place. Citizens have a reason to come here. It is nice to walk and relax here. Near the drama theater, cafes, restaurants.

City events dedicated to various events are held here. They are decorated very colorfully, attract a lot of people, and are always spectacular.
