Georgy Vainer is a legend for all lovers of Soviet detectives. His pen in a duet with his brother belongs to the creation of well-known characters. You can learn about his life, personality, as well as his creative path from this material.
Early years and becoming a writer
Georgy Vainer was born in 1938 in the family of a car mechanic. His father, Alexander, worked at a factory, and his sons from childhood showed a craving for learning. That is why they and their brother Arkady were sent to study at the Moscow Correspondence Law Institute. George did not want to work in his speci alty, so he began to try himself in other industries. He managed to be an electromechanic, an engineer and even a journalist. In 1967, a man and his brother finish and release the detective novel Hours for Mr. Kelly into the world. The work immediately became a success, the audience of fans demanded to continue creating, and therefore a duet was created in which Georgy Vainer and his brother Arkady presented the world with many masterpieces.
Flourishing creativity
The brothers' work has become a cult for all fans of the detective genre. Fans were happy to take on new books, which in the 70s were activelyreleased by the authors. Their novels "I, Investigator …", "Visit to the Minotaur", "Vertical Racing" and others almost immediately after the release received a film adaptation. This only accompanied the popularity in the Soviet space.
The most successful book can be considered the published novel "Era of Mercy", which was based on a five-episode mini-series "The meeting place cannot be changed." Fans dismantled the book into quotes after watching the movie. The adventures of Gleb Zheglov with his partner Volodya Sharapov remained for a long time in the hearts of many viewers. The writers themselves did not approve of the film adaptation too much, as they considered that the director had missed a lot. Georgy Vainer and Arkady considered the opportunity to create a legendary film for centuries missed.
Further creativity and moving
For the authors, it was not their detective novels that were most valuable, but books about more serious motives. In their masterpieces The Noose and the Stone in the Green Grass and The Gospel of the Executioner, they touched on tragic themes. Georgy Vainer and his brother Arkady devoted these books to a description of a possible Jewish Holocaust that was supposed to take place in the USSR. They described the scale compared to Hitler's persecution and confirmed the fact that the disaster would have been about the same level.
In 1990, the writer moved to the United States, where he became the editor of the New Russian Word newspaper. This publishing house showed the life of emigrants abroad. In parallel, he continued to work on several novels, which remained unfinished. Five years afterdeparture, brother Arkady died. Since then, the world has seen two more books from the author - "Multiplying Sorrow", "The Devil's Garden of Eden".
Personality
The novels of Georgy Vainer reflected his personality, even though he did not personally participate in detective stories. He was a believer, but too strong religiosity was not visible in his speeches. Often the writer liked to compare himself with the Jews, empathized with the Israelis in their fight against terrorism, and also supported politicians from among the "right" in this country.
People close to George have always noted his kindness, generosity and love of work. He was a real workaholic, but he never admitted it. He called himself a lover of booze and delicious food in a circle of friends. Weiner often visited Israel, loved this country for their constant struggle. On the example of the war with the Islamists for the opportunity to build a democratic country, he often criticized Europe and Russia.
His death in 2009 was a shock, although it was expected. The author struggled for a long time with a difficult illness that robbed him of his last strength.
