Sometimes we hear accusations of commercialism, greed and even greed. However, if you understand what commercialism is, then “pitfalls” immediately arise. On the one hand, numerous dictionaries of the Russian language emphasize that we are talking about financial prudence, an unhe althy love of money, and even lust for power in the commercial sense of the word. On the other hand, who determines the boundaries of this prudence? By what criteria - ethical, financial or otherwise - can one judge self-interest? For example, in the event that a person defends his personal interests, where then lies the cordon between profit and lust for power?
In our country, where half of the people have their souls wide open, it is difficult to somehow immediately define what commercialism is. Greed - maybe. Calculation is also possible. Even rationality. However, in practice, when you discard the usual moral definitions, you fall into a kind of stupor: personal enrichment and petty-bourgeois hoarding, again, does not mean a manifestation of commercialism. Maybe that's the whole point? That is, speaking about what commercialism is, we mean, first of all, the active, and not the moral, meaning of this word. Get rich by using the "passion" of others. Try all sorts of, even extreme measures for self-aggrandizement and at the same time boast of a moral decline. Turn white into black and, conversely, black into white. In other words, it is not a matter of greed, unbridled love of money and cold prudence. And in what methods and due to what the long-awaited we alth is achieved.
Or another example. The girl marries a rich man. Surrounding accuse her of greed and commercialism. However, does she wonder what commercialism is? Of course not! She just wants to provide for herself and her future children. So that they get an education and manage to settle in this complex world. Sorry, but this is rationality. Now, if she demanded a divorce six months later, spending money before that and not thinking about the consequences, then we would boldly say that this is the commercialism of women.
