Fyodor Andreev is a figure skater with dual citizenship: Russian and Canadian. Played for both countries. He represented Canada in singles. For Russia, he performed in a duet with Yana Khokhlova in ice dancing. He retired from sports in 2011 due to a knee injury.
Biography and early career
Andreev Fedor Vladimirovich was born in Moscow on March 2, 1982 in the family of the famous figure skater and Honored Coach of the Soviet Union Marina Zueva. Moved to Ottawa, the capital of Canada, in 1991 with his mother and stepfather Alexei Chetverukhin, who became his figure skating coaches.
Became the Canadian junior champion in 1999. The following season, he was the winner of the junior grand prix several times. At the adult championship of Canada in the 2002-2003 season, Fedor won bronze. He also took 3rd place at the Nebelhorn Trophy tournament.
He was considered for the transition to pair skating. Jennifer Kirk was assigned as his partner, but the duet did not work out.
In 2005, while learning the 4-turn jump, Fedor Andreev suffered a back injury and decided to end his career as a figure skater. Tried myself incar racing, moonlighting as a model.
Return to sport
Fyodor Andreev returned to the ice in the 2007-2008 season. Trained under Richard Callaghan. He finished 8th in the 2008 Canadian Championship and ninth in 2009.
In the same season, the young man decided to represent Azerbaijan at the World Championships in 2009, but the idea was not implemented due to the delay in processing the necessary documents.
Fyodor Andreev helped his mother train duets for some time. In 2010, Yana Khokhlova came to see the group that Marina Zueva led together with Igor Shpilband. Her partner, Sergei Novitsky, European champion in 2009, ended his career with a serious injury. The coaches paired her first with the Lithuanian Stagniunas, and then with Fedor.
The skaters' programs recorded on video were sent to Russia. The coaching council, which included Alla Shekhovtsova, Tatyana Tarasova, Alexander Gorshkov and Oleg Ovsyannikov, chose Fyodor Andreev as a partner for Yana.
The Andreev/Khokhlova couple has officially existed since May 28, 2010. They trained with the coaching tandem Shpilband/Zuev in Canton at The Arctic Figure Skating Club and represented Russia.
At their first international tournament, the Golden Skate of Zagreb, which took place at the end of 2010, the couple took fifth place. At the Russian Championship, they became fourth and could not get into the national team to participate in the World and European Championships.
Bthe rest of the season they took part in category B tournaments and won prizes there. At the international tournaments Mont Blanc Trophy and Bavarian Open won 2 silver.
In the summer of 2011, Fedor fell badly in training and seriously injured his knee. He had an operation. Already in September, it became clear that he would not be able to continue his career in professional sports.
Private life
On July 13, 2017, Fyodor Andreev got engaged to Meryl Davis, Olympic champion in ice dancing. They met thanks to Fedor's mother, who has been training Meryl for many years.
The couple has been dating for over 6 years and currently lives together in Birmingham, Michigan (USA). They don't have children yet. They live with a dog named Bilbo.
