Biography
Ivan Tavrin was born in November 1976 in Moscow. From childhood, the future entrepreneur showed interest in business: he read books by Theodore Dreiser. While studying at school, he traded goods of various categories on the Arbat, for the sale of which he earned his first money. After receiving his secondary education, Tavrin studies at the International Law Faculty of the Moscow State Institute of International Relations of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Russian Federation, graduating in 1998. In parallel with this, the entrepreneur tries himself as an advertisingagent. After graduating from the institute, Ivan devotes himself fully to business development.
Career
Ivan Tavrin's first steps were small: he was engaged in small business, buying goods in one place and selling at a higher price in another, or advertising enterprises. He decided on an independent activity a year before graduation: Ivan and his friend Sergey Vlasov opened a joint advertising agency called "Contract-Region", which was a huge step towards a successful career, because later they signed a contract with Lotte Corporation from South Korea and received an impressive amount of work. After that, many Russian media holdings made other lucrative offers to their agency. Working hard, in three years Tavrin and Vlasov were able to earn more than 10 million dollars from their agency, in which their acquaintance with popular entrepreneurs played an important role.
In 2002, Ivan Tavrin headed the "Regional Media Group", one of the founders of which is himself. In 2006, the entrepreneur accepts the offer of the TV-3 television network to exchange the received assets in the amount of 8 million dollars for 8 television companies. After that, Ivan Tavrin becomes president of TV-3.
2007 for a businessman is notable for the creation of the Media-1 holding, and then one of the largest radio holdings today - Choose Radio.
In 2009, under the management of the well-known entrepreneur and businessman Alisher Usmanov, the YuTV media holding was created, a participantwhich is Ivan Tavrin. He and his team owned a 50% stake in the created YuTV Holding.
Three years later, on April 20, at a meeting of shareholders, Tavrin was elected CEO of MegaFon. He remained in this position for 4 years. Along with other entrepreneurs, Ivan also made some significant contribution to the development of Megafon OJSC, as a result of which the title of one of the best mobile operators in Russia was assigned to the latter. The businessman made many successful deals, one of which was in 2014: Tavrin bought 12% of VKontakte from Pavel Durov, and after a while he sold his share to Mail.ru Group for 12.43 billion rubles.
It took Ivan about 13 years to get the status of one of the richest people in Russia.
Private life
Ivan Tavrin does not like to spread information about his personal life. The assumption that he is married was made because of the wedding ring on his finger.
