Krasnodar is a city located in the south of the Russian Federation, 1340 kilometers from Moscow. It is the center of the region of the same name. The city was founded in 1792 by Zaporizhzhya Cossacks, who moved to the Kuban after Western Ciscaucasia became part of Russia. The Yekaterinodar fortress was erected in 1794.
