Armavir is a city located in the southeastern part of the Krasnodar Territory, located on the banks of the river. Kuban. The distance to Krasnodar is 195 km. The town of Armavir is famous for its hospitality and cleanliness. The population is about 190 thousand people.
How did Armavir appear?
It was founded by Armenians in 1839. It all started with the fact that they were attacked by the warlike Turks, the Circassians and Adygs, who settled on the outskirts of Russian settlements, did not give rest. Therefore, the Armenians decided to create an aul in close proximity to the Russians, and then gave it a simple name - the Armenian aul. A little later, in 1848, it was renamed Armavir. The population of the town consisted only of Armenians.
At that time, the Caucasian War (1817-1864) was going on, and for security purposes, local residents dug a ditch 2.5 meters deep on three sides of the village, and on the fourth side they were covered by the river. Kuban. This was necessary, because the highlanders often attacked the village, encroaching on the property and lives of civilians. Despite this, the village began to grow rapidly, people settled down well in a new place and gradually switched from defense to retaliatory attack. The population of Armavir in those years was about 30-35 thousand people.
Development of Armavir
Population growth was due to the emergence of new settlers, most of whom were engaged in agriculture. But even then the main occupation of the inhabitants of the village was trade. They made trade journeys that were very dangerous and for many cost their lives. The main enemies of the Armenians were the Circassians, they often attacked the merchants, robbed them and killed them. But trade brought large incomes for the development of the city, so it was impossible to refuse it. At the same time, the beginning of the development of culture was laid.
When the war ended, capitalist relations began to develop in Armavir, many reforms were carried out. Of paramount importance were reforms aimed at the restoration of agriculture. Throughout the war, they had to live under the threat of attack, so time was spent on strengthening and defending. But despite this, the population of Armavir only grew.
Joining Russia
At about the same time, a military reform was carried out, as a result of which the Armavir people were annexed to Russia. In 1876, the construction of the Vladikavkaz railway began, and later it had a huge impact on economic development.
In the same year, the village called Armavir became known as a village. Soon the railroad started working, and trade began rapidly.develop. Various industrial and cultural institutions gradually appeared in the village one after another. But all this happened in the central part of Armavir. The inhabitants of the outskirts worked in the fields and were engaged in agricultural work.
In the 1890s, factories and factories began to open. The population increased due to the coming industrial workers. At the same time, educational institutions began to appear in Armavir. Cinema, theater and even a circus opened. The population of the city of Armavir worked for the benefit of their locality.
At the very beginning of the 20th century, the settlement was fully electrified, many houses had running water and a telephone. Cars began to appear. In 1914, the village of Armavir acquired the long-awaited status of a city. At the same time, it was decided to lay tram tracks throughout the city, but had to be postponed indefinitely, because the war began.
City life in turbulent times
After the revolution, a fierce struggle for power began in Armavir. At that time, the city dwellers suffered a terrible famine and devastation. This continued until 1922, when the Soviet government gained a foothold in power, and the Civil War ended. Gradually the city was restored. The entire city industry began to work, new enterprises opened, the first medical institutions were built.
Despite this, Armavir of the Krasnodar Territory continued to develop. The population thinned after the war, but then began to grow again.

Local residents in a hurry left the village and went over to the side of the partisans. Armavir was liberated from occupation in 1943. The population at that time was about 84,000 people.
Post-war
During the war, almost the entire Armavir was razed to the ground, all its factory buildings were destroyed, residential buildings were burned and the railway line was blown up. But the loyal people of Armavir decided to restore their hometown at all costs.
Restoration work was carried out at old factories and new ones were opened, science and culture developed in the city. Institutes, technical schools appeared, libraries and a sports stadium were opened.
Armavir began to grow rapidly, new neighborhoods appeared one after another, kindergartens and schools were opened in them. The most intensive growth took place in the 1970s and 1980s. At the same time, a trolleybus depot was opened. The employment of the population of Armavir was organized, everyone worked to turn the town into a civilized and picturesque area.
