Early years

Polezhaev Leonid Konstantinovich was born in January 1940 in the district center of the town of Isilkul, in the Omsk region. His father was an employee of the railway department Leonid Antonovich Polezhaev - Russian by nationality. Soon the family moved to the village of Port Arthur, which is located in the Leninsky district of the same region. Little Lenya spent his childhood there, and there he graduated from high school. Professional career

In 1966 he became the chief engineer of the Pavlodar regional water management, and then the deputy director of agriculture. Occupying these positions, Leonid Konstantinovich in 1969 joins the Communist Party. In 1972, he was appointed head of the Irtyshsovkhokhstroy trust, but the very next year Polezhaev became the head of the Pavlodarstroy trust. He held this position until 1976. Then he was entrusted with a responsible task - to manage the construction of the Karaganda-Irtysh canal. He performs these functions until 1983.

At party work

Seeing Polezhaev's good organizational skills, the leadership of the CPSU wished to involve him in party work. In 1983, Leonid Konstantinovich became the first deputy head of the Karaganda Regional Executive Committee. Along with this, he entered the Academy of Social Sciences, which he successfully graduated in 1986.

In 1987, Polezhaev Leonid Konstantinovich decides to return to his native land. His biography will now be inextricably linked with Omsk. He becomes the head of the melioration department of the local regional executive committee. In 1989, Polezhaev was appointed deputy chairman of the regional executive committee. In 2007, Leonid Polezhaev's tenure as head of the Omsk region expired. Direct elections of heads of regions by the population were legally abolished. But President Putin, according to the law, did not nominate anyone, namely Leonid Polezhaev, for consideration by the Legislative Assembly of the Omsk Region as a candidate for the post of governor. The Legislative Assembly positively considered this initiative of the President.

Thus, Polezhaev became governor until 2012. According to Russian law, he cannot hold the post of head of the region for more than four terms in a row, so this cadence for Leonid Konstantinovich should have been the last.

Death message

In mid-August 2010, rumors spread around Omsk that Leonid Konstantinovich Polezhaev had died, his biography and activities had come to an end. These reports were perceived as a real fact, because one of their sources was the local police station, and there was no official response from the authorities on this matter. Then they began to say that Polezhaev was in serious condition after a heart attack in Moscow.

But, as it turned out later, Leonid Konstantinovich was alive and well and was on vacation, from which he returned at the beginning of the 20th of August. According to one version, they could even be police officers, since on the eve of the relationship betweenthe governor and the head of the local Ministry of Internal Affairs sharply escalated.

Leaving office

In May 2012, as required by law, Leonid Polezhaev left the post of governor of the Omsk region, having worked in this post for 21 years and reached the age of 72 years. He handed over the post to his successor, Viktor Ivanovich Nazarov, who remains the governor to this day.

Leonid Polezhaev himself, retired, became the head of the Spiritual Heritage public fund, continued to work as much as possible for the good of his native land.
