Early years and first steps towards acting
David's parents decided to move from Nigeria and settled in Oxfordshire, the city of Oxford. Here their long-awaited son David was born on April 1, 1976. Stephen's father tripled to work for the national airline, and his mother found a job with a railroad company. Six years after the birth of their son, the parents decide to return to Nigeria, and when the boy is 14 they move again to England.
David graduated from Islington City College and a yearattended the London Academy of Arts. His girlfriend advised him to try his hand at the theatrical stage, and after a while Oyelowo began to play at the National Youth Theatre. David got involved in acting and at the age of twenty-two he first appeared on television.
