Early years and first steps towards acting

David's parents decided to move from Nigeria and settled in Oxfordshire, the city of Oxford. Here their long-awaited son David was born on April 1, 1976. Stephen's father tripled to work for the national airline, and his mother found a job with a railroad company. Six years after the birth of their son, the parents decide to return to Nigeria, and when the boy is 14 they move again to England.

David graduated from Islington City College and a yearattended the London Academy of Arts. His girlfriend advised him to try his hand at the theatrical stage, and after a while Oyelowo began to play at the National Youth Theatre. David got involved in acting and at the age of twenty-two he first appeared on television. The first film projects with his participation were at that time little-known TV series Maisie Rain and Brothers and Sisters. • "The Butler" (2013) - the role of Louis Gaines.

• "Interstellar" (2014) - the role of one of the scientists (School Principal).
• "Prisoner" (2015). Here the actor played the role of the killer Brian Nichols.
• "Queen of Katwe" (2016) - the role of Robert Katende.
• "United Kingdom" (2016) - the role of Seretse Khama.
