It's hard enough to understand who is a brave person. Of course, there are heroes of numerous wars, but many of them said that they performed military feats, overcoming fear. And by what criterion to understand which people are the most courageous in the world? Russians are undoubtedly a brave people. They accomplished many feats in numerous wars, especially in two world wars, they managed to conquer and defend the territory of the largest country. But the British in a broad sense, including the Americans, control most of the world, and no one writes about them that they are a brave people.

Ancient and bold

Probably the Vikings can be called the most courageous people in the world and in history. And not only because they kept in fear many peoples of Europe, North Africa and Asia Minor, but also because they were outstanding sailors. In search of new lands for resettlement and trade trips, which were organically combined with piracy and robbery of coastal settlements, the Vikings sailed to Africa and Greenland. For three hundred years (from the 8th to the 11th centuries), the Vikings plundered countries that were located near sea routes from the B altic, North Seas to the Mediterranean, Black and Caspian,conquered England, Iceland and partly Ireland. If you ask yourself the question who is the most courageous people in the world, then the Vikings are the most correct answer. They not only successfully fought, but also made unparalleled bold sea voyages.

Conquest

Does it take courage to sail into the unknown, knowing only that the earth is theoretically round, and how much courage is needed to finance this journey? Christopher Columbus was a Genoese, but Spain granted him the right to the expedition and funding, and on October 12, 1492, he discovered America. And thousands of Spaniards poured into the New World to defeat the empires of the Incas and Aztecs. The military campaigns of Balboa, Cortes and other conquistadors made it possible to conquer almost all of South America. Thanks to these trips, the world became acquainted with potatoes, tomatoes and chocolate, as well as many other exotic products. During this golden age of Spain, the country owned a large part of Italy, the Netherlands, Austria and large territories in America. In total, about 200,000 Spaniards moved to America by the 17th century, knowing that many would not make it across the ocean and few would survive in the New World. And during this period, the Spaniards were indeed the most courageous people in the world.

Conquest of Europe

All countries and empires experience ups and downs. Probably, the French reached the peak in their development as a nation under Napoleon. The French controlled almost all of European territory and northern Africa. Any inhabitant of the countries conquered by the French knew the answer to the question ofabout which people are the most courageous in Europe, and therefore in the world. The French did not make great geographical discoveries at that time, they just fought well. Napoleon then became not only the emperor of France, but also controlled most of the European countries and northern Africa. The most daring French died in the campaign against Russia, and in other wars they did not show themselves in any way, and in the Second World War they simply surrendered to Germany.

What the Russians want

Probably, even in the most biased rating of the most daring peoples, Russians will take prizes. Several times Russia stopped countries claiming absolute dominance in Europe: France in the War of 1812 and Germany in World War II. In both cases, the country fought against almost all European nations. Of course, there were also almost 300 years of the Mongol-Tatar yoke in history, which many are now trying to cancel, but after this period the country has always been unconquered. The Russian people managed to spread their influence from a small European part to the Caucasus, Siberia, the Far East and North America (Alaska and California). Hundreds of thousands of people settled in the vast unexplored territory of Siberia. And the greatest courage is the 75-year-old socialist experiment, when the Russians began to build a kingdom of justice on earth. An incredible experiment that cost tens of millions of victims, but showed the whole world that you need to fight for your rights.

Small but brave

If we take small nations that distinguished themselves by military prowess, then the Chukchi are one ofthe few peoples that could not be conquered by stronger neighbors. The Russian Empire fought this small people for about a hundred years. Of course, the remoteness and harsh climatic conditions also affected the hostilities in many ways. It was possible to annex the territory by bribery and trade, but since then the Chukchi have been an absolutely peaceful people. In the code of laws of the Russian Empire, the Chukchi belonged to the peoples who are not completely subdued and pay yasak (tax) at will. Another such people are the Nepalese, to be more precise, the Gurkhas who conquered Nepal. As a result of the Anglo-Gurkha War, Nepal made a series of territorial concessions to Britain in exchange for a payment of 200,000 rupees annually. As a result of the peace treaty, the country became dependent on the British Empire, and since then, the Gurkha regiments from Nepalese volunteers have been part of the British army. They proved to be fearless soldiers in numerous wars. Gurkha units are now not only in the British army, but also in the Indian one. They serve in the police and security forces in Singapore, Hong Kong, Brunei and Bahrain.
