“Mechanized infantry”, as the motorized rifle troops (MSV) are called in European countries, is the backbone of the army. How did it all start?

The history of the flag of motorized rifle troops begins with the autumn events of 1550. At that time, Ivan the Terrible publisheddecree, according to which October 1 is considered the day of the creation of the "permanent army of Russia", the basis of which was made up of thousands of service people from Moscow and district districts. Despite the fact that the MSV is part of the Ground Forces, which celebrate their day on October 1, today the motorized riflemen celebrate their professional holiday on a different day. According to military experts, the tsar laid the foundations for the formation of the Russian regular army. During the reign of Ivan the Terrible, the standing army was represented by archery regiments.

About the banners

According to experts, there was a very respectful and sacred attitude towards flags during the time of Ivan the Terrible. Each banner had its own history, full of victories, exploits and hundreds of sacrificed lives. The red color of the ceremonial caftans of the royal archers became the first main one used in regimental colors. An image on a religious theme was applied to the cloth.

Regimental colors were intended exclusively for ceremonial occasions. As a permanent flag, the streltsy regiments used company (hundred) banners containing shades of red and green. There were also "fraternal" (fiftieth) flags. This regalia was a small piece of multi-colored matter, on which a cross or other geometric figure was depicted.

Knee-deep in blood

During the reign of Peter the Great, soldiers, sergeants and officers who served in Preobrazhensky and Semenovskyshelves, it was allowed to wear red stockings. This became a hallmark for the heroism shown in the battles near Narva. Then the infantrymen, providing cover for the retreating archery troops, were forced to stand in close formation in the lowlands knee-deep in their own blood. In honor of the courage shown by the infantrymen of Russia, the flag of the motorized rifle troops was named “Knee-deep in blood.”

In the years of the USSR

In Soviet times, a pentagram - a five-pointed star - was applied to the flag of motorized rifle troops. This spiritual component symbolized protection and safety. In addition, the five-pointed star reminded of the great sacrifice made by the peoples who gave their lives in wars for the Russian Empire, and then the Soviet Union.

About colors

The flag of motorized rifle troops is characterized by the presence of three colors:

The banner is presented in the form of an ordinary black rectangular canvas. In the center there are two circles, the stripes of which are made in yellow. Between the large circle and the small one, which is located inside, there is an inscription indicating the type of troops: “Motorized rifle troops. Russia". In the center of a small circle is a wreath of oak leaves. Immediately, the developers have allocated space for two crossed machines. Among a large assortment of other types of weapons, the choice fell on the machine gun, since it is considered the main weapon of the infantryman. St. George ribbons fly from both sides of the large circle. Above it, at the very top of the flag, there is an inscription: "Mobility". At the bottom, under the circles, the word: "Maneuverability" is applied. These two words were not chosen for nothing, since they symbolize the successful and efficient work of motorized riflemen. About the official version

Regalia of Russianmotorized rifles is represented by a rectangular panel on which two horizontal stripes are located. For the top green, a thickness of two thirds of the total width of the flag is provided. The bottom red stripe takes up one third. In the center of the flag is a backbone figure.
