Characteristic of Goryanka

All Goryanka are herbaceous perennials. Their roots are highly branched. The length of the petioles is 15-20 cm. The appearance of the plant depends on the location of the leaves. If between them 1-2 cm, then the bush will be dense, squat. If more - then loose.

In some species of Goryanka, the leaves remain green even in winter, while in others they are renewed annually. The leaflets of the flower are compound, double or pinnate. In shape they are oval, arrow-shaped, heart-shaped. The edge of the leaflet can be either smooth or serrated or wavy. The texture is thick and leathery. There are decorative varieties in which the leaf along the edges and along the veins is colored orange or bright purple.

Flowers are small - from 0.5 to 2 cm in diameter. They are valued for their unusualness: eight sepals arranged in two rows. The outer ones (small and trough-shaped) fall off already when the flower blooms. Internal, resembling petals, are located crosswise. The four petals of the corolla can be either spliced into rings or divided.

Petals of varieties differ in shape. They can be long, short, with spurs. The coloring is varied: red, purple, yellow, white. There are also combinations of these shades.

Flowers are collected either in a simple or in a double-branched brush. Depending on the length of the peduncles, they either peek out of the greenery or hover above the bush.

Fruits are dry, opening. The seeds are called aryllus. They are equipped with large nutritional appendages that attract ants. It is these insects that help the plant to reproduce innatural environment.
