The concept of "modern political party in Russia" now has a completely different meaning for the political situation than a few years ago. Today, a large number of parties are registered: communist, socialist, and also nationalist. All of them serve the interests of specific groups.

Political centrism - the position of a certain movement or political group, is an intermediate concept between left and right such groups, and also provides for the rejection of extremism.

Both old and new political parties should not use terms in their names that could offend national, racial or religious feelings. It is forbidden for them to use in their activities the bodies of state power, as well as local self-government. It should also be noted that public associations without the status of a political party are prohibited from using the term “party” in their names.

A modern political party has the right to have its own emblem and symbol. At the same time, its symbols should not contain elements similar to the state or regional system of conventional signs. There is also a ban on the use of symbols that offend or discredit the state (coats of arms, flags or hymns).

As mentioned above, the following can be distinguished among the main directions of party activity: left and right. Thus, a party that adheres to the left ideology, as the main goal of itsactivity puts the achievement of social equality and improvement of living conditions for the lower strata of the population. These may include social democracy and socialism. It is also customary to classify communists and anarchists as radical left parties. The parties on the right are the exact opposite of the left.

It is necessary to note one more kind of ideology, which is not always reflected in the characterization of political parties in Russia. This is liberalism, which refers, in addition to political, to philosophical and economic theory. This ideology is based on the position of individual human freedom as the legal basis of the economic order in society.

Summarizing the above, it should be noted that, in accordance with the official website of the Ministry of Justice of the Russian Federation, the list of political parties in Russia includes about 76 units. However, the leader today is the United Russia party, created back in 2003, which has all the necessary attributes reflected in this article (emblem and symbols). Its political activities are regulated by the Charter of the Party and the Program, which outlines the main areas of activity.
