One of the long-lived politicians Yegor Stroev, whose biography has been associated with high political positions for more than 25 years, is an example of survival in any situation. He always found something to do and fully realized himself in several guises: scientist, governor, politician, party functionary.
From shepherd to agronomist
February 25, 1937 in the village of Dudkino, Orel region, in the family of a peasant, the future governor Stroev Yegor Semenovich was born. The family lived on the Oryol land for four hundred years, the ancestors of Yegor Semenovich served Ivan the Terrible and cultivated poor land, getting their daily bread. Difficult times fell on little Stroev: war, occupation, restoration of the country, and the boy had to work from an early age. He started as a shepherd, while studying at the same school, which opened as soon as the Germans were driven out of the village.
He was always eager for knowledge, got high grades and wanted to become educated. In 1955, Yegor entered the Michurinsk Fruit and Vegetable Institute for the speci alty“agronomist”, to the correspondence department, continuing to work on the collective farm, but quickly goes up the career ladder: foreman, site manager, agronomist. Stroev knows how to get along with people, likes to work, knows his business and makes informed decisions - all this ensures his advancement.
Party career
In 1958 he joined the ranks of the Communist Party, it was a completely natural step for him, he believed in the leading role of the party and was sure that he could do a lot for his land in its ranks.
Since 1963, he begins his career as a party leader from the lowest levels: deputy chairman of the party committee on the collective farm, then head of the department for ideological work, secretary of the executive committee, chairman of the district committee, and so on.
In 1967 he entered the Academy of Social Sciences and graduated in 1969. For 20 years, he has grown to the position of First Secretary of the Oryol Regional Committee of the CPSU and works in this capacity in the most difficult times for the party of perestroika. He actively supported the ideas of Gorbachev, advocated the introduction of a market economy, this support opened the way for him to the central committee of the party, where he was included in 1989. He becomes secretary of the Central Committee, deals with issues of agrarian policy and prepares village reforms. Until 1991, he was a member of the Politburo, and when the party ceased its activities in its previous form, Stroev returned to his former activities. In 1991, Yegor Semenovich did not support the recognition of the State Emergency Committee and after that he left the political scene for a while.
The path in science
In 1991, Yegor Semenovich Stroev received a Ph. D. in Economics based on a set of previously published works. In the same year, he was appointed director of the All-Russian Research Institute of Fruit Crops Breeding, which was located in his native Oryol region. Here he worked for 2 years, applying his knowledge as an agronomist-breeder.
In 1994, Stroev defended his doctoral dissertation on the methodology and practice of agrarian reform and became a doctor of economic sciences. He is an academician of the Russian Academy of Agricultural Sciences. During his scientific life he published more than 60 papers.
Government-level careers
In 1993, Yegor Stroev was elected head of the administration of the Oryol region. He knows his native land better than anyone, he has his own vision of the revival of the region, and therefore he received support not only from the population, but also from the authorities. If there are born leaders, then one of them is Stroev Yegor Semenovich. The governor, by the very first decree, doubled the wages of the villagers, then began to carry out reforms, demanded benefits from the government for the village. In the same year, Stroev was elected to the Federation Council, in which he will work until 2014, from 1996 to 2001 he is acting chairman of the Federation Council, in fact, being the third person in the country.
The Oryol region in the face of Stroev found a diligent and intelligent leader, in a few years he brought the region to the forefront in agricultural production,raised the standard of living, carried out reforms in the social sphere. Yuri Semenovich always defends the need for economic reforms, he is a supporter of evolutionary changes in the economy and consistently implemented his ideas in the entrusted region.
In 2009, Yegor Stroev leaves the post of governor of the Oryol region, but continues to represent the region in the Federation Council. In 2014, Stroev also left this position, remaining an honorary member of the Federation Council.
Egor Stroyev has repeatedly received awards for his work, he is a full holder of the Order of Merit for the Fatherland, has the Order of the Red Banner of Labor and the Order of the October Revolution. Repeatedly received thanks, awards, badges of honor of various meanings.
Criticism and compromising evidence
Any prominent public figure is criticized. Often, journalists talk about the illegal earnings of politicians and governors, and Stroev Yegor Semenovich is not bypassed by their attention. The whole truth about his commercial activities is unknown. But the media claim that his wife and daughter's family own significant business assets in the Oryol region. Stroyev does not get involved in a skirmish with journalists and says that he has a clear conscience and that he has no enemies, since he has always acted according to the law and in accordance with moral principles. His family and relatives have various commercial enterprises in the Oryol region, but according to Stroev, there is nothing illegal in this.
The governor has been repeatedly criticized for his commitment togovernment line and for the local cult of personality. But Stroev only jokes in response to these accusations.
Private life
Egor Semenovich Stroev, whose biography is full of events and high positions, took place in family life. For more than 40 years he has been married to Nina Semyonovna, who gave birth to his daughter Marina. Before retiring, Nina Semyonovna Stroeva worked as a teacher of Russian language and literature, and the daughter of the governor, who graduated from the Institute of Foreign Languages, followed in her footsteps. Stroev's grandson is growing up.
