There were times when Korzhakov's name was well-known, and he was recognized in every corner of the country. Today it is forgotten. Where is Alexander Korzhakov now? Few can answer this question. And he continues to work, write books, often recalls the old days. How was the life of Alexander Korzhakov?
Childhood and family
Alexander Korzhakov was born on January 31, 1950 in Moscow. Korzhakov Sr. went through two wars: Finnish and World War II. He first worked as a worker, then became a foreman at the Trekhgornaya Manufactory. There he met Alexander's mother, who was a weaver.
Korzhakov's mother, Ekaterina Nikitichna, was born in the ancient village of Molokovo. There, as a boy, Korzhakov spent all his holidays. He still considers Molokovo the best place on Earth, and it is there that he has settled his permanent residence.
Alexander's childhood was completely normal. He went to school on Krasnaya Presnya, went in for sports a lot, and participated in fights more than once. The study was nothis favorite thing. After school, Alexander even made an attempt to study at the institute, but quickly abandoned him.
Beginning of adult life
After leaving the institute, in 1967, Alexander Korzhakov began working at the Moscow Electromechanical Plant in Memory of 1905 as a mechanic. A year later he was drafted into the Soviet Army. Thanks to good physical preparation, Korzhakov gets into the so-called Kremlin regiment, that is, he begins to work as a guard. He liked the army, and this predetermined his life choice.
Education
Korzhakov Alexander Vasilievich only 7 years after graduation decided to continue his education and entered the All-Union Correspondence Law Institute, which he graduated in 1980.
Later, already in the Yeltsin era, he defended his Ph. D. thesis in economics.
Service in the KGB
After demobilization in 1970, Alexander Korzhakov went to work in the Ninth Directorate of the State Security Committee, dealing with the protection of top leaders of the party and the state. In 1971, he joins the ranks of the CPSU, is a member of the party bureau of his unit. Korzhakov says little about his service at that time, and nothing particularly interesting for the general public then happened in his life. In 1981, he was sent to Afghanistan to take part in the hostilities.
Boris Yeltsin in Korzhakov's life
In 1985, Korzhakov received a new appointment: he became the bodyguard of the first secretary of the Moscow city committee of the CPSU, Boris Yeltsin. This isthe event changed the life of Alexander Vasilyevich. He got quite close to the guarded "object". This is how the tandem "Alexander Korzhakov - Boris Yeltsin" appeared, which participated in many significant events in the life of Russia.
In 1987, when Yeltsin was dismissed for harsh remarks objectionable to the authorities, Korzhakov did not leave Boris Nikolaevich and continued to maintain friendly relations with him. For this, in 1989 he was dismissed from the KGB, formally due to "age and he alth", but in reality - for supporting the uncomfortable, disgraced Yeltsin. At the same time, Korzhakov was expelled from the ranks of the CPSU, and all this meant the end of his career. But times have changed.
Formally, Korzhakov worked as the head of the security service at the Plastik cooperative, but in reality he continued to guard his friend and former chief B. N. Yeltsin. When Yeltsin was appointed chairman of the USSR Armed Forces Committee on Architecture and Construction, Korzhakov came to work in his structure. In fact, he remained the personal bodyguard of Boris Nikolaevich. In 1990, after Yeltsin became chairman of the USSR Armed Forces, Korzhakov received the post of head of the security service of the Armed Forces.
The election of Yeltsin as President of the Russian Federation brought Korzhakov the position of head of the presidential security service and the rank of major general. In this role, Alexander Vasilyevich received enormous power and influence, which he repeatedly used. Opponents accused Korzhakov of his involvement in many dark stories, in particular, the murder of V. Listyev, the attempton B. Berezovsky. During the putsch in 1993, he organized the supply of heavy armored vehicles to the parliament in Moscow, and Korzhakov personally arrested Rutskoi and Khasbulatov.
During the 1996 election campaign, Korzhakov joined the Election Headquarters, and then became the first assistant to the President of the Russian Federation, head of the SBP of the Russian Federation.
On June 20, 1996, there was a huge scandal related to the financing of Yeltsin's election campaign, the so-called "case of currency in a photocopier box." Alexander Korzhakov was named the organizer of the fraud. Top Secret, the newspaper whose journalists were investigating, printed a photo of a box with half a million dollars and described a complex chain of people and organizations that closed on the head of the SBP. As a result, overnight Korzhakov was fired from all posts and lost Yeltsin's trust.
Deputy Korzhakov
After his dismissal from the Kremlin, Korzhakov Alexander Vasilyevich made many high-profile statements, tried to speculate on secret information that he possessed, he blamed Yeltsin's daughter Tatyana for his troubles. But, to his credit, he did not reveal any unpleasant information about his former boss. Korzhakov made alliances with various politicians, including the opposition Alexander Lebed, and sought support.
In 1997, he was elected to the State Duma as a deputy from the Tula region. In the Duma, he withstood several convocations, adjoining various factions, in his last years as a deputy he was a member of United Russia. In 2011, Alexander Korzhakov ended his career as a deputy and retired from big politics.
Korzhakov's books
After his dismissal from the team of the President of the Russian Federation, Korzhakov zealously began to write his memoirs. Perhaps at first it was just an attempt to scare Yeltsin, but later it all turned into a real book. Already in 1997, Korzhakov's work "Boris Yeltsin. From Dawn to Dusk" entered bookstores. In his texts, Aleksey Vasilievich harshly walked through Yeltsin's entourage, through his family, but he hardly touched the former boss himself. In 2012, Alexander released a second book about Yeltsin's entourage, where he again blames the president's family and close associates with all his might. In numerous interviews, Korzhakov hinted that he knows a lot about the events of the Yeltsin era, that all his revelations are yet to come, but so far he has not dared to make sensational statements.
Awards
Alexander Vasilyevich has repeatedly received various awards for his valiant service. He received the Order "For Personal Courage", as well as several medals, including "Defender of Free Russia", "For Impeccable Service", several commemorative awards and a certificate of honor from the administration of the Tula region.
Private life
Alexander Korzhakov was married twice in his life. He lived with his first wife Irina for many years, the couple had two daughters - Galina and Natalya. Korzhakov is already a grandfather; his daughter Natalya had a son, Ivan. Now Alexander is married for the second time, his wife's name is Elena.
In private life, Korzhakov is a very calm and unpretentious person. He permanently lives in the village of Molokovo, where he built a temple at his own expense, bought a water pump for the villagers. He loved sports all his life and continues to play tennis today, chasing the ball with his grandson. Korzhakov is very fond of dogs, and there were always several dogs in his house. Today, several different breeds of dogs live on his estate.
In addition to politics, there were other interesting events in Korzhakov's life. So, he acted in films: "The Bremen Town Musicians", "Heaven and Earth", "Only You". He enjoys watching series about the work of law enforcement agencies, and in some of them heroes sometimes appear, the prototype of which he himself became.
Today
Alexander Korzhakov, whose books were sold in quite large numbers, continues to write today. He is working on another volume of memoirs about his participation in the backstage of Russian big politics, which will be called "Notes of a hobbled general." Korzhakov lives a quiet village life. Sometimes he consults former colleagues and associates, gives interviews to various media and continues to promise that “someday he will tell the whole truth”, but he immediately stipulates that “people should not know everything.”
