Yaroslavl region is the average territorial unit of the Russian Federation. As of the beginning of this year, the population was 1265247 people. 82.6% of the total live in urban conditions. The region includes 11 cities.

This is one of the oldest cities in the country, founded in the XI century, the heyday fell on the XVII century. Located in the Eastern European partcountries on both banks of the Volga River.

The majority of the city's population is represented by Russians, but there are also about 120 other nationalities. The city is divided into 6 urban areas.

The city itself is also very ancient, the official founding date is 1071 (the first mention is from 826), but it received the status of an urban settlement only in 1777.

It is sad to realize, but the population in the city is decreasing, last year this figure was at the level of 4477 people, of which the natural decline was 1390. It turns out that the townspeople are dispersing around the country and the world in search of a better life.

Pereslavl-Zaleski, like Tutaev, are the most famous and visited cities of the Yaroslavl region, because they are part of the Golden Ring of the Russian Federation. Only in 2009 Pereslavl-Zaleski was visited by 292.6 thousand people, 2% of which were foreign citizens.

In the city of Tutaev last year there waspopulation growth, compared with the previous period, the number of citizens increased by 37 people. The same picture is observed in Rostov, the number of inhabitants increased by 96 people.

Which city of the Yaroslavl region was the first? This is Rostov. It is mentioned in chronicles from 862. And Yaroslavl was founded only in 1010, which was built by Yaroslav the Wise.

The city of Lyubim was built back in 1538, in order to protect the population from the raids of the Tatar Cossacks. In the first half of the 19th century, there were only 6 stone houses in the settlement. But by the beginning of the last century, more than 3 thousand people lived in the village, schools and hospitals appeared, industry and infrastructure developed.

There are several versions of the origin of the name of the city of Myshkin. However, thanks to the efforts of local historian Grechukhin V., the settlement was returned to its historical name in Soviet times. Since 1990, the city has been a tourist center, receiving about 140,000 tourists annually. The symbol of the city of Myshkin is the mouse, in honor of which a whole museum was opened.

The population of the Yaroslavl region in cities and villages is steadily declining. The worst situation is in rural areas, people go to larger settlements. Population compensationcomes from migrants. People come to the region from Uzbekistan, Georgia and Ukraine. I would like to believe that in the near future the situation will change, that is, the influx of population will occur due to the birth rate.
