When did Samara get its own zoo?

For the first time the zoological park in Samara was opened in 1992. The animal collection consisted of 46 species (80 individuals) and belonged to the Teremok cooperative. Gagarin, and by winter a transfer to the greenhouses of the Zhiguli Gardens was organized. At that time, there were significant problems with the organization of living conditions for animals and feeding, against which it became necessary to equip a permanent zoo. And yet, there were some difficulties in the life of the zoo after gaining a permanent residence permit. Global work to improve animal welfare and care began in 2005. Indeed, a cardinal transformation took place in the shortest possible time; visitors were able to see the updated zoo. Samara asked for help from colleagues from Moscow. Today, the animals of the Samara Zoological Park eat according to the formulas developed in the Moscow Zoo, are examined and observed by specialists in a timely manner. At the same time, despite all the improvements, it was possible to maintain affordable ticket prices: 200 rubles for an adult, 100 rubles for children under 7 years old, babies under 2 years old - free of charge. The park is located at: 146 Novo-Sadovaya Street, its doors are open to visitors from 10:00 to 19:00 daily, on Monday from 13:00 to 19:00.

On the territory of the Zoological Park you can take photos and videos for an additional fee. Also, anyone can feed the animals with food purchased in a special tent on the territory of the zoo. Today, the collection consists of 190 species of animals, and their total number is about 1100 individuals.
